  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Another Noah's thread (no stoning please :))

EDITED TO ADD: 1/30/14
Since there is such an outcry about the AA reference (I told you I was not a specialist :)), here is a site as well as 37 min video that is not a part of the AA.
Details of the finds are spelled out and itemized there as well
http://www.arkdiscovery.com/noah's_ark.htm
========================================
Original post below. :)
No stoning please ... and no staplers either.
I am not an expert in archaeology, nor scientific debates, nor anything like that.

I saw this UFOTV edition on finding the Noah's Ark by Wyatt.

They are not presenting this from religious point of view.
They are looking at the evidence and comparing what was found with the Bible and other religious books.

They are also dispelling right from the beginning some of the disinformation claims about the discovery of the Ark.

I watched the whole thing and was amazed.
It fits the exact way the Bible described it.

I am not a specialist on this topic.
You are. :)

Does this make sense?

ANCIENT ALIENS: The Noah's Ark Conspiracy - FEATURE FILM - YouTube

If it is shown to be untrue I just close the thread and go away mumbling to myself not to believe YouTube videos. :liturgy:

Thanks, :)
Ed

It's true. But only, and only if, you're wearing a double layered tinfoil hat.

True story.

Or this:

You watched this or you are just assuming it is not so?

I didn't watch it, but will do if you tell me it is really worth it.

EDIT: Getting more curious by the minute, so I might watch even if you don't say anything, haha!

You have to be real specialists in this area to know something without even watching it.

Not really, something with both "ancient aliens" and "Noah's ark" in the title cannot be really good, especially if it involves Ron Wyatt in any capacity.

Nah, you just have to know that Ron Wyatt is a crackpot.
You guys are incredible. ^_^

I thought evidence is important ... and here are debates about the ark ... and how the Bible is wrong and all that.

I understand. :)
I don't know much about Wyatt, only from what I saw and read.

Video made sense to me.
I just want to know where it does not make sense, so I could gather up my stuff and stand in a corner.:)

I could post hundreds of sites that clearly show how most of Wyatt's discoveries are frauds, but you would probably explain them away saying that they are biased. So I will post just one, Answers in Genesis. Here is a quote from this AiG text:

"Are the claims true? If they are, such a staggeringly impressive list would mean that Ron Wyatt had been almost as miraculously assisted by God as the patriarch Moses. If, however, a careful examination of just one or two of these claims reveals them to be false, fanciful or fraudulent, the ‘divine leading’ option evaporates, and it is clear that Christians are being seriously misled."

And here is what he claims to have discovered:

Noah's Ark (the Durupınar site, located approximately 18 miles (29 km) south of Mount Ararat)
Anchor stones (or drogue stones) used by Noah on the Ark
The post-flood house, grave markers and tombs of Noah and his wife
The location of Sodom and Gomorrah and the other Cities of the Plain: Zoar, Zeboim and Admah.
Sulfur/brimstone balls from the ashen remains of Sodom and Gomorrah.
The area of Djoser's pyramid complex believed to be the remains of Joseph's grain distribution bins used during the 7 year famine.
The Tower of Babel site (in southern Turkey).
How the Egyptians may have built the pyramids.
The site of the Israelites' crossing of the Red Sea (located in the Gulf of Aqaba).
Chariot wheels and other relics of the army of Pharaoh at the bottom of the Red Sea.
The site of the biblical Mt. Sinai (in Saudi Arabia at Jabal al Lawz).
A chamber at the end of a maze of tunnels under Jerusalem containing artifacts from Solomon's Temple (including the Ark of the Covenant).
The site of the Crucifixion of Jesus.
Christ's blood, dripped onto the Mercy seat of the Ark of the Covenant beneath the Crucifixion site.
Burial pots off the coast of Ashkelon.

But I don't have to agree with Answers in Genesis on everything they say. ^_^:)

Somehow you might have an impression if there is some type of a site or a Christian commentary that I necessarily need to believe everything they say.

I know what I saw. It made sense.
If I am wrong, possible. :)
Show me.

I thought evidence is important ... and here are debates about the ark ... and how the Bible is wrong and all that.

And I'm more than happy to read about any evidence given by someone who can demonstrate that they have thought critically about their claims. Wyatt was an amateur archaeologist, who made unfounded conclusions to his "finds," repeatedly.

I'm not going to waste my time sifting through ALL his mud throwing in hopes of finding a nugget that sticks to the wall.

Seriously, you need to google the guy...even Christian organizations have refuted his claims.

It's amazing how you guys think.
I thought you were realists - you are wasting your time with me here anyway ... waste it looking at the video.

Look, do you check out all the evidence from Giorgio A. Tsoukalos, the ancient aliens guy, to see if his claims are legit? No? Why not? Why would you expect us to do the same for a guy who's reputation is no better?

I don't know how accurate this information is:

Special Report: Amazing “Ark” Exposé - Answers in Genesis

But it really says something that a well known hard core creationist has taken this much time on a lengthy debunking of the claims of somebody who is supposedly on "his side."

But aren't you an atheist? Don't you need to believe your eyes?

And right now you are taking Answers in Genesis opinion while you clearly do not believe Answers in Genesis opinions.

I can debunk AIG as well in some things.
They do not have an infallibility license. :)

No, I'm not taking an AIG opinion. It was merely an example (and there are more) of creationist literature which happens to align with my opinion in this case. I did this merely to demonstrate to you that there is every reason to be skeptical of Ron Wyatt's findings. I even included a caveat that I didn't know how accurate Snellings article was.

You are clearly just trying to goad me into watching the video.

Let me know when you are finished researching Giorgio A. Tsoukalos' claims...
