  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Another look at the moon landing.

Looks like Apple Sky is back with a vengeance quoting her latest prophet Bart Sibrel. He is a conspiracist with no real knowledge of anything space or NASA. The film being discussed, "A funny thing happened ...", is just as prodromos says
It certainly does. It says, "I am a cobbled together piece of nonsense, created to push an idiots' conspiracy theory". That came across loud and clear.
If anyone is actually interested, the excellent site Moonbase Clavius has a page specifically dealing with that nonsense here: Clavius: Bibliography - review: a funny thing happened on the way to the moon. That site collects and debunks all the usual conspiracy theories and is a great starting point for those wanting to take an evidence based look at the Apollo missions and other space events from the same era.

As long as you're happy - before God - to call your fellow Christians liars. :sigh:

I don't need to.
Apart from anything else, this has nothing to do with the Gospel, my faith or how I live for God. If all the leaders of the countries involved/NASA/the astronauts said tomorrow; "it was all faked" - so what?
Men walked on the moon - Jesus is Lord.
Men didn't walk on the moon - Jesus is Lord.
-

I am happy because i no longer believe these moon trip lies.

No I choose to believe the film that he posted.
That means you believe the astronauts were actually in space, in low earth orbit, circling the globe earth. Sibrel claims we never went to the moon, but he absolutely believes we went into orbit around the earth outside the earth's atmosphere.
So I guess we are making progress after all. Since you say you believe this film you apparently now reject the flat earth with an impenetrable dome, because the film you say you choose to believe absolutely rejects such a notion. That is good to hear, there is hope for you yet.

Looks like Apple Sky is back with a vengeance quoting her latest prophet Bart Sibrel. He is a conspiracist with no real knowledge of anything space or NASA.

Bart Sibrel - An author who wrote a book on space & NASA. Bill Kaysing is another author of of a book titled ' We Never Went to the Moon: America's Thirty Billion Dollar Swindle.'

Kaysing asserted that during his much earlier tenure at Rocketdyne he was privy to documents pertaining to the Mercury, Gemini, Atlas, and Apollo programs, and argued that one did not need an engineering or science degree to determine that a hoax was being perpetrated

  • NASA lacked the technical expertise to put a man on the Moon.
  • the absence of stars in lunar surface photographs was indicative of a hoax.[5]
  • there were unexplained optical anomalies in the photographs taken on the Moon.[6]
  • there was an absence of blast craters beneath the Lunar Modules, and that the rocket engines of the Lunar Modules should have generated an enormous dust cloud near their landing sites during the final seconds of descent.[7]
  • the death of Thomas Baron, a quality control and safety inspector for North American Aviation, was mysterious and indicative of a hoax.
He also noted that Dutch newspapers questioned the "authenticity" of the Moon landings.

The supposed International Space Station is about 400 to 420 kilometres (250 to 260 mi) above the Earth's surface. How high the firmament is I have no idea.

Obama said, 'We can only go as far as low earth orbit he said that it's time for our current manned space program to go beyond low Earth orbit. We haven't had a manned mission beyond this'.

How do you know that? I assume you do have some basis for making such a certain statement.

In order not to believe them, you are saying that everyone involved in them - including born again Christians - is lying.

But if you're happy to hold beliefs which rely on calling others liars ........

I actually do not believe that the ISS is up there & it is all a farce, you only have to see a few video's of them floating around on wires & some of them breaking - Oops.

But it can be seen from the earth. What evidence do you have that it doesn't exist, despite people being able to see it?

Yet your fellow Flat Earther does, because they've seen it.
In a different post you gave the distance that the ISS is from the earth.

Apple Sky posts some more nonsense, this time from William Kaysing:
  • NASA lacked the technical expertise to put a man on the Moon.
  • the absence of stars in lunar surface photographs was indicative of a hoax.
    • The photos were of brightly lit objects on the lunar surface. Star light is comparatively very weak and would be drowned out. See here for more: Clavius: Photography - exposure
  • there were unexplained optical anomalies in the photographs taken on the Moon.
  • there was an absence of blast craters beneath the Lunar Modules, and that the rocket engines of the Lunar Modules should have generated an enormous dust cloud near their landing sites during the final seconds of descent.

How do you know what it is? It would be really helpful to discussion if instead of merely saying, "it's not a space station," you explained why you think it isn't, and what evidence you have that it isn't. Otherwise we end up like children, arguing, "Oh yes it is!" and "Oh no it isn't!" :)

Oh, because you've been to visit it, I suppose?

Sure plenty of times I just hop onto my space buggy and go, but it's getting a bit crowed up there now for parking.

Sorry David, I would try to explain what it is up there but I'm not really sure as for giving evidence that it not a space station watch a few video's.
I will give you a list when I have time.
