  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Thanks for the support.

I have been wondering about the "still desiring" and "surrendering to the Lord" thing coexisting. My desire is not a sexual one, but one of wanting to redeem and renew (second birth?) of a relationship. Though I desire it I have surrendered it to the Lord, and acknowledge that the Lord's will be done in my life. To surrender it I can't just turn around and not desire it. Indeed until the Lord moves me to new plans I may always desire to have her back. At least that's what I'm thinking, is desiring it an indication that I haven't let it go?

Ultimately, this will be a trust issue with God. You have to believe that God has your best interest in mind, and that he knows your desires. What is important is that you obey God here and now. Make your ways God's way, and he will satisfy your heart. See this verse

Psalm 37: 3-5

Trust in the LORD and do good;
Dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness.

Delight yourself in the LORD;
And He will give you the desires of your heart.

Commit your way to the LORD,
Trust also in Him, and He will do it.

Dave, I know I've said this so many times, but thank you! I always look forward to reading your posts. That's an excellent way of putting it, and an excellent verse to go with it. That's exactly what I need to be doing.
I'm in agreement with John there Dave... thanks!

No problem bro. Everytime I get discouraged, I need to refind my purpose with God, and peace comes through living my life for him. Yeah, it sounds cliche, but its true. When thinks suck, I remind myself what God made me for, and I try to make that happen. In the light of living for Christ, everything is so much clearer. Of course I am not saying that you should clean up at church so you can have a crutch, but simply understanding that your life goes beyond you. God made you for so many things, and if you don't do what God made YOU to do, then nobody ever will. You are needed, and you are important in God's kingdom. There is nothing better than living for Christ. Remember the most important commandment is to love the Lord your God with ALL that you are.
