I have friends of all faiths an non faiths.... Some of the people I'm friends with who do not believe in an afterlife at all are making a big deal out of the case that went through. Some people was putting crosses around the city. 30 that were 8ft tall. (The height I could see as a little strange) but what is the hurt in it? Why do they care if there's a cross on the sidewalk? It's not like it's hurting anyone.

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I don't know if I can put a link on. I'm just asking why is it such a big deal to have the faith out in public? I mean they took God out of schools.. they took him out of the governement.. and now it's a big deal that people want to put crosses on public sidewalks? It just seems like one day it's going to be a crime to have a cross on your lawn or a nativity decoration out during Christmas... I just find this public assassination of Christianity ridiculous.

It seems like a pretty cut-and-dried establishment clause case. Governments in the United States cannot endorse religion. Erecting huge crosses throughout the city is an endorsement of Christianity.

I can see why 8 foot crosses on public sidewalks would be disallowed, but this is a waterfront park. If the park allows all religious displays, it should also allow this one. The judge said it would be "overwhelming", whatever that means.
