Or maybe everyone gives demons more recognition and power than they really have. Christians are some of the easiest people to put fear in. Just tell them they have demons everywhere attacking every part of their life and you all freak out. Then you have to go "put on" your armor that you took off after church Sunday and "fight the good fight"....

It makes no sense.

Amen sister, I just don't get why Christians freak out about such things. They are sealed with the Holy Spirit and are blood bought.

You have your point there. I'm still stuck in the middle of WHAT to believe. I lived 19 years without ever knowing about demons minus some small stuff and I did just fine...lol

You know, rituals are fine...they can encourage our faith and increase our understanding if we do the ritual with the purpose behind it in mind.

If I'm trusting a ritual to ward off or cast out demons, then I'm in a mess. Only trust God.

To trust Him more, we need to know Him more and the more we know Him the more we trust Him.

We're under the shadow of His wings...the better we realize that, the better we can venture out into life without fear and have the dominion He intended for us to have.

Honey, if he is honestly being attacked every night - something is wrong and what is being done is not working.

I've been there and done that. We had pagan neighbors in the downstairs apartment we lived in about 8 years or so ago. Not a picnic. That was my first experience with anything like that but I had heard stories from missionaries before.

I lived in fear for a while, did some of the crazy things people suggested, and then realized that there was no reason for it to be going on other than spiritual attack because of what I believed and did....

Here's what I did the first time (and be really suited up in prayer and in the armor when you do this - because it takes a really strong leaning on G-d for this to end. He holds it all in His hands, and He can stop it):

I rebuked these spirits - "I rebuke you in the name of the L-rd".
I sent them back to the dry places, away from my home, away from my apartment and family (Matthew 12/Luke 11 & book of Enoch)
- "May the L-rd send you back to the dry places, away from my home, away from the apartment and my family"

And I began removing EVERYTHING I knew was a foothold, and started drawing closer to G-d. It was a real battle, I found out that the girls downstairs were calling up demons each night for their power, so when their friend/consort didn't comeback, things got harder... I ended up learning more than I wanted to about this kind of thing... and it was scary.

Later on I worked in a place where my boss was pagan and doing similar things, so every day I worked with this kind of thing, and after a heavy bout of spiritual warfare at work, it followed me home. Unknowingly, my brother brought in some things to the house (my parents) that brought in some baggage.. I still remember the feelings when I'd wake up being attacked like I was.

A dear friend of mine sent me a prayer that helped in addition to what I listed above... it helped me, and later on it helped my sister when she was going through similar stuff. Perhaps it will also help you.

I suggest firstly that you and your husband pray about the situation and seek G-d's face, as well as Counseling about this from a mature pastor who has dealt with this kind of thing (you'd be suprised how many still think stuff like this does not happen in the US)...

Here's the prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, I pray this prayer in the power of the Holy Spirit and in the name of Yeshua, May You bind, rebuke and bring to no effect: all division, discord, disunity, strife, anger, wrath, murder criticism, condemnation, pride, envy, jealousy, gossip, slander, evil speaking, complaining, lying, false teaching, false gifts, false manifestations, lying signs and wonders, poverty, fear of lack, fear of spirits, murmuring spirits, complaining spirits, hindering spirits, retaliatory spirits, deceiving spirits, religious spirits, occult spirits, witchcraft spirits (including Jezebel, Delilah, and Apollyon), and spirits of Antichrist off: _________________________________ this night and day in Yeshua’s name.

May You bind all curses that have been spoken against us. I bless those who curse us, and pray blessings on those who despitefully use us. May You bind all spoken judgments made against us and judgments we have made against others. May You bind the power of negative words from others, and May You bind and render useless all prayers not inspired by the Holy Spirit, whether psychic, soul force, witchcraft or counterfeit tongues that have been prayed against us.

We are Your children. We resist the devil. No weapon formed against us shall prosper. We put on the whole armor of G-d and take authority over this night day and in Yeshua’s name. Let it be prosperous for us, let us walk in your love L-rd.

The Holy Spirit leads, guides, and directs us this night and day. We discern between the righteous and the wicked. We take authority over Hasatan and all his demons and those people who are influenced by them. We declare Hasatan is under our feet and shall remain there all night and day, in Yeshua’s name.

We are the righteousness of G-d in Yeshua. We are G-d’s property. Hasatan, you are bound from our family, our mind, our body, our home and our finances.

We confess that we are healed and whole. We flourish and are long lived, stable durable, incorruptible, fruitful, virtuous, full of peace, patience and love. Whatsoever we set our hands to do shall prosper for God supplies all our needs according to his riches in glory. We have all authority over Hasatan and all demonic forces, all demons and all beasts of the field.

Father, we pray for the ministry positions you have for us. Anoint us Father for all You have called us to do. We call forth divine appointments, ask You to open doors of opportunity, G-d ordained encounters and ministry positions.

We claim a hedge of protection around us throughout this night and day and ask You to dispatch angels to surround us and put them throughout our house, around our cars, souls and bodies. We ask You to send Your angels to protect our house from any intrusion and to protect us personally from any harmful demonic, or other physical, mental or financial attacks.
We pray for the Peace (shalom) of Jerusalem.
We pray this prayer in the name of Yeshua. Amen.

Edited to clarify....... Would not want to lead anyone astray......

War Eagle is right ..... This is a personal thing I do which is very meaniful to me - but until I can find the Scripture for it - Please do not follow what I have said.

I will search the Scriptures, I know of stories, but have to research where to find them -

Thank you War Eagle for coming back at me until I give proof. However, I might say - you could be a little more gentle and not so much sarcasm - you know the Word - you don't need to use sarcasm to make your point.

===========================================

My ex-son-in-law (thank God) had a demon manifest in his house to him - I called a pastor of a Spirit Filled church (I was not Spirit filled at that time) - he said "my dear, you don't need a pastor to cleanse the house - you can do it" - He told me to take the olive oil and pray the Blood of Jesus over the doors and windows and on the pillow of the ex.

She did this and there was no more problems.

I have prayed the Blood of Jesus over every house I have owned since then.

I don't do it for myself - I do it for the evil that might come around - they dare not cross the Blood line.

You may laugh at it all you want - but I have seen the results. My daughter lived in an area where they had devil worship on a hill just up from her house, they sacrificed animals and did all kinds of things around the neighborhood - she prayed the Blood over every window and door - it was so bad - she could see the demons outside her window - but she had no fear because she knew they would not cross the Blood line - you might say it was her faith that kept them away - maybe it was - but they did not bother her.

I had someone in my house once that had demons - I had prayed the blood over my doors and windows - the demons were shaking so bad this girl had to leave - I was praying the whole time she was there - there were strange things going on in the house - if I told you - you would tell me to throw salt over my shoulder also -
They are real - and unless you have dealt with it and seen it - you will not believe it. I use to laugh at people that spoke of demons and thought they must be awful people to have demons - I made all kinds of fun of them - well I don't make fun anymore - I have seen too much.

I have had people visit me who were into all kinds of things - they could not stay in my house - they would always go out on the pourch to talk -

I have had people come to me after they had been through deliverance and said they find such peace in my house and tell me of the torture they went through when they were there before.

They are real. I am not one that looks for the devil behind every bush - but it seems that people come across my path that are bothered by demons.

 I don't think it's wrong to annoint things...however, if it becomes a daily, necessary ritual that's probably overdoing it ;) I think the best way to protect yourself from demons is to avoid and repent of sin..and lots of prayer. I think it's fine to pray 'the blood of Jesus' as some people do (like what Sharon described in the above post..), etc...but Rebecca Brown seems to be going too far.
Demons are real but we should remember to focus more on God than on demons.
Also, not everything is a result of demons...for example if you get a cold or have a bad dream..that doesn't mean you're being spiritually attacked. :) my two cents..
God bless

The other is to believe, and to feel an excessive and unhealthy interest in them. They themselves are equally pleased by both errors, and hail a materialist or magician with the same delight." C.S. And, of course, he explained to you where such superstitious practices are found in scripture, right?

I'll believe it if you show me from the scriptures where we're told to engage in these rituals.

I've noticed that...

Those who believe in this, we're STILL waiting for some scriptural back up. I don't mean to be legalistic or harsh, however I need some backup from the Scriptures before you have me believing and I think that's only right.

Stories like Sharon's make it more believable, but I still can't fully believe without GOD telling me it's the right way to go. I do see casting out devils in Jesus' name, I do see a lot of things in the Bible but I don't see an excessive, almost worship like, amount of the Bible dedicated to demons. I like that quote from C.S. Lewis, I think it's totally right.

The emphasis placed on these threads makes it appear that we are more concerned about this than we really are.

Dealing with the evil in the world is like walking down the street and kicking a stone out of the way - if you come across the evil - kick it out of the way with the armour God gives us and move on.

If this were not an every day event - why would God give us this tool of which to overcome:

EPHESIANS 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; (NKJV)

Also God tells us how the evil works:

I PETER 5:8 Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the
devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone
to devour. (NIV)

God tells us what to do with evil - He tells us how to deal with evil - There is no need to question if it is there - if you feel the leading of the Holy Spirit to do something about a certain instance - then do it - if you don't feel that leading - then do nothing.

It is not like we should be looking behind every action or every bush for a demon - it is not like that at all. If you follow the leading of the Holy Spirit - you won't even have to look for it - the Holy Spirit will show it to you. But believe me it is there in many instances.

Have you never walked into a certain store or be around certain people and feel the evil? It is awesome how God shows us when the evil is present. God tells us to watch for the "firey darts of the wicked one."

Don't be obsessed with it, but as the Word tells us "be alert."

I must have missed the part about rubbing oil on your doorposts, "inviting" demons in, "pleading the blood", and rebuking the Devil.

Would you mind pointing it out to me?

Without going into much detail (for lack of time) I will give you the long story short. When I met my DH he told me he was into some weird stuff but that it was good, solid Biblical stuff and I should search it out for myself. He gave me material from a woman named Rebecca Brown, M.D. which I tore through and decided that some of it was scriptural and most of it is not. He is not of the same idea, so we differ in that area.

Rebecca Brown's teachings are about spiritual warfare. Serious spiritual warfare...against demons, evil spirits, other people, the church, whatever comes up against you in this life. She has my DH convinced that he should not ever HAVE to be sick, that his brother doesn't have to be Autistic and he could be healed if he got rid of the demons, and...that he needs to anoint the doorposts of his room every night before going to sleep so as to ward off any evil spirits, demons, w/e that might "come in and attack" during the night. If he has a rough night of sleep, he blames it on not anointing well enough or something. It drives me nuts because his reason for doing it is because of the blood on the doorposts back in Exodus...I don't see any oil being used to seal off rooms, properties, etc. I am cool with anointing people with oil, obviously having the elders do it, and praying over things and people to heal, because it's in the Bible. I just don't see sealing off rooms or anything else for that matter in the Bible.

Can anyone enlighten me or help me out here? My mission is not to prove DH wrong and be against him, my mission is to find out what is right. Thanks.

Oh God... Rebecca Brown again...

I lost my first and only girlfriend in part because of Rebecca Brown and her church that teaches this... stuff. It's the kind that reads the Old Testament much more than the New Testament and, in my view, focuses more on Satan than on God.

I tried. I realy did try. But in the end, I had no choice but to break up with her.

Fundamentalists. Either you believe what they believe, or you are wrong and are risking going to Hell. Good luck with DH.

If the Holy Spirit tells you to do something in the OT do it...Mary the mother of Jesus said it best...whatever He tells you to do ...do it!

If you decide to live by the Old Testament, you must follow all laws because if you break one, it's like breaking them all. Good luck following Leviticus 15:19. Heck, all of Leviticus 15!
