  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Okay, I have heard from this list that animesuki was a good place to download legal unlicensed anime. I went and downloaded an AVI file but when I try to open it I get this error: "Cannot play back the video stream: no suitable decompressor could be found."

Does anyone know how to play these files? I have the Windows Media Player as updated as it can be. I did some research on the internet but without any real answers. Those that have used this before, how did you get it to work?

Thanks!

Great! That did the trick! It will now play my downloads.

did you also download the bittorrent program needed to download those files?

Yep, it was a matter of the player not reading the download, not a matter of it not downloading. Thanks for helping though :)

I know this isn’t really anime specific, and may best be asked in a technical forum. But like me, I’m sure other people here have pondered this question if not found a good solution to it. I did some Google searching but would like to know recommendations from someone who has done it before.

I got the anime .avi downloaded on my computer, I also got it to play thanks to armed2010. Now, I don’t particularly want to watch it on my 17” monitor at my desk, I’d rather have it on my theater system. How do I get these to play on my DVD player? I know there is a way to convert it to an mpeg format and put them on CD-Rs. I’m just not sure the best way to go about that. My DVD player reads CD-R and can take DVD, VCD and SVCD formats. Anyone here find a good program or way of getting this to work?

Thanks!

Get a DVD player with .avi support or get a cipped Xbox :D. Or just use your video out on your graphics card to watch it on the tv but still use your comp as the player.

I don't know if there is a really simple way of converting .avi to svcd. Sorry to say that someone else will have to answer this.

Encoding is evil, but you could try a VCD, or if you have a dvd burner, encode it for that. I hope you enjoy waiting...

Nero Burning ROM is a good tool if you want to give it a go. I can't guarentee that it works (it didn't the one time I tried it).
