  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I've noticed there have been some anime I'm watching now that are apparently remakes of series that were much older. Time Bokan 24's predecessor was from the 70s, for instance, while Bonobono had a series from the 90s, along with Shounen Ashibe Go Go Goma chan had 2 from the 90s. Of course, there's also been Sailor Moon Crystal and, less familiar to me, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood.

Any others that have been coming out that I've missed?

If you're in to that sort of stuff, Berserk has had a re... well, I wouldn't call it a re-release since it's a continuation of the original story. But the animation style is horrible.

And there's also the third series of Code Geass coming out next year which is being proceeded by a couple of films of the original series that came out in the early 2000's.

Berserk is certainly tempting (particularly the manga), but anime wise, I'm not really even catching up on old stuff at the moment, since I'm also occupied with catching up to Arrow. Not even sure what anime I'd want to watch to catch up on offhand.

I will say this for Berserk: stick with the manga. Neither of the animes are worth it.

The first one supposedly does a good job, from what I've heard, but studio changes and such apparently contributed to the quality decreasing. I'm watching Ajin and finishing up Bubuki Buranki and they seem to use a similar style of animation to what I've seen of Berserk 2016, so I could get used to it, but adaptation wise, I have heard there were things skipped. Then again, Terra Formars S2 took a radical shift in tone from S1 because studio had to share responsibility with a new one that was more oriented towards kids' programs

I recently finished watching the first Berserk series. It... wasn't for me. I enjoyed some of it but I never truly got into it. And I'm still debating whether I need to scrub my brain with bleach or not after those final two episodes
:lost:

I've actually semi-noticed this trend too. I knew Brotherhood was a remake that mostly stuck to the manga (sooo much better than the original anime series in my honest opinion) and then there's the new Berserk which is apparently very subpar.
I'm assuming at least one of the Gundams is a remake of the original. And then, of course, there's Dragon Ball Z Kai. I really wish they'd make a Kai-like cut of Dragon Ball.

Yeah, the Berserk finale is... something. And the manga stretches it out for nearly ten chapters.
