• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
 • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Bright emerald green eyes with a band of gold. Long flowing hair. Sweet-expressioned faces. Jaunty ear and toe trimmings. Each time you see a Norwegian Forest Cat is a feast for the eyes. Each time you touch their spun-silk soft coats is a delight to the fingertips. These are the cats that explored the world with the Vikings, protecting the grain stores on land and sea, and which are believed to have left their progeny on the shores of North America as a legacy to the future.

Kentrosaurus
kentro.gif

Plated dinosaur
Surrounding a small hill in the thorn forests of southern Tanzania is one of the world's outstanding dinosaur sites. Here, sheets of sediment, possibly borne by floods, were swept into a coral sea some 140 million years ago, during the late Jurassic Period. In them are the bones of hundreds of dinosaurs, including skeletons of giant brontosaurs which were mired in soft mud. Others, such as the plated Kentrosaurus, accumulated as a result of droughts which produced mass kills of animals feeding on low, shallow-rooted vegetation.
Kentrosaurus was a relatively small dinosaur, about 4.5 m in length. Blood circulated to the plates which probably served to heat or cool the animal, as well as serving a defensive function. They weighed 2 metric tons, and had a brain about the size of a walnut, about 6 cm long. Kentrosaurus is instantly recognizable by a double row of enormous bony plates running along its back and tail, which were arranged in a zigzag fashion and stood almost upright. Kentrosaurus defended itself against attack by flesh-eaters like the allosaurus, by lashing out with its thick strong tail. The end bore two pairs of sharp spikes, each nearly a metre long, which together formed an extremely dangerous appendage.

Ganges River Dolphin (Platanista gangetica)

This unique and endangered river dolphin differs from its marine cousins in several ways. The Ganges river dolphin has a pudgy body and an extra-long, sharp-toothed beak. Nearly blind and with a primitive brain, the Ganges river dolphin travels alone or in loose pods, unlike the more sociable marine dolphins.

Habits and Habitat
The Ganges river dolphin is found in the river systems of India, Bangladesh, and Nepal. It prefers murky waters and is often found in the deeper stagnant pools formed by the convergence of two rivers. In these pools and streams the river dolphins can maintain their position with little energy and catch fish swimming along in faster surrounding currents.

Because Ganges river dolphins often live in murky waters, it is difficult to observe them in the wild, with most behavioral research being performed on captive animals. What is known about the Ganges river dolphins is that they are most active at night, but they vocalize and swim constantly. They also swim on their side, dragging one fin along the bottom, which helps orient it to its surroundings and find fish, clams, and shrimp to eat. One of the dolphin's most intriguing characteristics is its use of echolocation for orientation and hunting. Not unlike a sophisticated radar system, the Ganges river dolphins transmit a continuous series of high-frequency clicks from the larynx and then receive the reverberations of these clicks with the ears. This skill is so fine-tuned that Ganges river dolphins can differentiate between fish species, allowing them to choose preferred species over less appetizing ones!
