• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
 • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Marsupial Rayado
aka Western or Long Nosed Bandicoot

Bandicoot.jpg
peraboug3%2042.jpg
The Western barred bandicoot weighs 190 - 250 g (6.8 - 8.9 oz). It formerly occurred over much of southern Australia in semi-arid and arid areas with a variety of vegetation types. In its one remaining habitat, on Bernier and Dorre Islands, it is especially abundant in sandhills behind beaches. It is insectivorous and usually obtains its food by digging. It is mainly nocturnal, usually emerging at dusk. One to three young per litter are born, with two being the most common.

The Western barred bandicoot formerly occurred in
Australia from Western Australia east through southern South Australia to western New South Wales and northwest Victoria. It was last recorded on the mainland in 1922. As of 1970, since no specimens had been found for many years it was presumed extinct. By 1983, it had been rediscovered on Bernier and Dorre Islands and as of 1996 is only found on those islands.

Reasons for its decline have included predation by introduced foxes and
feral cats, competition from livestock and introduced rabbits, habitat clearing and degradation, and changed fire regimes.

Yoldia
eightsi
aka Antarctic yoldia
pb-y-eightsi.jpg
kc3804-32.jpg

Yoldia eightsi is found in Antarctica and the Antarctic Peninsula, South Shetland Islands, South Orkney Islands, South Sandwich Islands, South Georgia Island, Kerguelen Island, Argentina, Chile, and Falkland Islands at depths from intertidal to 824 meters [1,2,3,4,5,8,11,12]. Y. eightsi is most common shallower than 100 meters depth [5].The shell covering (periostracum) of Y. eightsi is glossy yellow-olive or brown with well-defined brown growth rings between small yellow or orange zones; it may be dark brown in larger animals [3,9,12]. Shell size of Y. eightsi can reach 4.65 centimeters [3]. Using growth rate calculations, Y. eightsi at 3.5 centimeters in length are about 65 years old; those at 4.5 centimeters are about 150 years old [4,7].

Yoldia eightsi is found in soft sediment and burrows relatively shallow compared to other Yoldia, adopting a more horizontal shell orientation when burrowed [4,6]. Y. eightsi is both a deposit feeder on mud and a suspension feeder on diatoms [6].
The muricid gastropod Trophon longstaffi is a predator of Y. eightsi [13]. The brittle star Ophiosparte gigas has been found with Y. eightsi in its gut contents [10].

Acanthopagrus
butcheri
Bream, Black
Scientific name:
Acanthopagrus butcheri

bream_black.gif

They say to catch a decent black bream is too hard and many anglers just give up. Black Bream can be relatively simple to catch if you follow a few simple rules and put in the fishing time.

Rely on the K.I.S.S. principle Keep It Simple Stupid, that goes for any fish, , you don't need fancy gear worth hundreds of dollars to catch a Bream a simple handline will do the job, a couple of sinkers a few hooks and a swivel or two is all you need.

Habitat
Most anglers cast too far in the search of bream as these fish tend to search for food along the edges of the river banks, I know you can catch Bream in the deeper channels, but most Bream are caught within 10 metres of the river bank.

Try and find a fishing site which is not easily accessible, here you will probably have a better chance, be very quiet and wear neutral clothing, Bream are very easily spooked, keep your silhouette low and you will have a better chance.
