I imagine somewhere/somehow you feel betrayed.

You need to identify what is causing your anger and bitterness and hand it over to God and to accept that you have handed the cause of your anger over to God.
If it is a person/people or some event you have to let God deal with them or it, while you pray for the well being of any people involved.

Well give it to Him. Unless we hand it over .. He can do nothing. And even revenge is His never ours. When He takes care of it..its gone. Speak His word as in...NO the JOY of the lord is my strength. Praise Him.. just think about Him.. sing to Him. Get your eyes on Him.. in JESUS name.

Lord, help Traze77 identify the situations or thoughts that are provoking this anger. Help him to be transformed by the renewing of his mind, choosing to follow your Will and Word as he blesses those that curse him and turns the other cheek to provocation. Let these situations be used as a tool to build him up strong for You.

I hand over to God and forgive but it keeps coming back in my thoughts, struggling to let it go. Its kind of like I'm under a spiritual attack. Sometimes I think/get angry about things that happened years ago. I also suffer from treatment resistant depression and loneliness which I believe are the two main things that cause it. I volunteer at my church and go to group meetings to be around people, but this doesn't make up for not having any friends.

The point of handing a situation over to God is that you do bot need to manufacture feelings of forgiveness.

Jesus on the cross Did Not Forgive them, he prayed, ' Father forgive them.'

If your memorises of an incident keep coming back remember God is dealing with that situation and praise him for so doing.

If those thoughts are accusing you of not beiing a Christian, not good enough etc etc etc, just acknowledge them and move on.
Intrusive thoyghts cannot be argued with or just ignored.
