But as for this friend having "five different disorders", modern psychiatry really seems to be preying on kids these days. They get a lot of money for preying on kids with some problems, frankly. Not all do this by any means, but it is sick. And then they pump them full of dangerous drugs with side effects like "causes psychosis".
These sorts of hurtful labels can stay with kids for a long time and feed into the idea that they have some sort of real mental disorder, whereas if they lived in poorer countries or a hundred a fifty years ago they would be "magically" fine.
Do you have any experience of some one who has a mental health history? I lived with this girl for months, alright. It was more than obvious to everyone in the house her mental health was a distraction and she could not function properly. If you really want to know she was a compulive liar, compulsive stealer, Type I Bipolar disorder, Narcissis, and I have no idea what else. We explained this all to a family psychologist and that's where I am getting the number 5 of personality disorders.
I am not aware what kind of treatment she got, but it is needed, believe me. Thats part of humanity. The brain is an organ, just like the heart or lungs are. You have surgery or take drugs in order to keep it at its' healthiest. Point taken that there are misdiagnoses out there, and sometimes over-diagnoses.... but clearly sme people need treatment.
