  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

And he gave ...

No, that is not what I believe. I do not see how you got to that as a belief.

Thanks for clarifying, so when you said "bishops are the successors of the apostles", you actually believe bishops today are equivalent to apostles, such as Paul?

They are the pastors of their diocese; they have ruling authority. Saint Paul wasn't a bishop in that sense as far as I know. Saint Peter was, as were some others mentioned in the scriptures.

So is that a yes or no?

You tell me if you think that Jesus made a mistake because I do not think he did.
I do not believe he did. Even when he chose Judas to be the 12th

bishops are the successors of the apostles.

This is how churches can depart from scripture and mislead. GOD changes not, the pattern of leadership is fixed in 1 Corinthians. Bishops didn't somehow overtake apostles as the top leader of the body of Christ.

We must trust GOD and His words, not necessarily churches and their people.

Indeed, bishops are considered the successors of the apostles, governing their dioceses as pastors over the faithful in that area. This has been the consistent view of the Church.

So is God still giving apostles to the church today?

Still waiting for your yes or no answer.

Sorry, but you guys and your church departed from scripture in this area when you shouldn't have.

And they no longer have the signs of the apostles, 2 Corinthians 12:12, as well.

Would you agree with that?
Some may, but it seems you have an agenda and are determined to follow it through. I'll be on the sidelines observing. I have some soup, and I might even grab some popcorn.

I am merely trying to establish that you do apply the past tense to some gifts, specifically apostleship.

My original point to you was here And he gave ...
