Last week we had a glimmer of hope when a therapist came in and helped my Grandma Emilia sit up on her bed and stand with a walker. The therapist even mentioned the possibility of taking her to the gym facility in there and having her take a few steps with a bar.I though praise God she's going to walk again.Unfortunately my hopes have been dashed. This morning I got a call form the doctor who's taking over my Grandma's case. She informed me that there was nothing more they could do for her and that they wanted to discharge her and put her on hospice by Friday. On the one hand it's ok because my Grandma would be coming home which is what she wants,on the other it's very upsetting that we were led to believe something could be done and now we're being told they can't do anything. Why put us through that? Why build up our hopes and snatch them away?May God give me wisdom as I am supposed to meet with with the hospice rep today.May God grant me a helper to care for my Grandma ,and May He grant me faith and hope because I surely need them .In Jesus Name Amen

Mario thanks for the update. We won't give up on Grandma and will continue to pray.

I went through a very similar situation with my mother two years ago before she went home to the Lord. The physical rehab place gave us a very optimistic outlook. Then I started getting calls about her not fully measuring up to their rehab goals. So I took a flight out to spend time with her and go through some sessions with her. What I found out is if a family member is not physically there, the patient is fodder for freeing up a room/bed. I fought them and demanded another evaluation with me present. She did much better but days after I flew home (and had a family friend check on her twice daily) we found out she had cancer and that is why she was not meeting a lot of the physical demands.

My mom was 85 when going through this. I failed at one important matter. I never asked her what she wanted to do given she was a firebrand her entire life and loved exercise and her independence, so thought me going in there like a tough love coach would be the way. I think she just wanted to go home to her house and live a few more weeks independently as possible with family around her.

Praying for Grandma, you and your family.

Thank you for keeping us updated.
Father, I pray that you will grant wisdom to @mario1001 and the family as they make decisions concerning their precious grandmother. May Your will be done in this situation, and may Your lovingkindness cover Emilia and the whole family. Let Your love and peace flow through these family members to each other. Draw any of these who do not know You to Yourself that they might rest in the security of Your Truth. :praying:

Father, I pray for Emilia, that she will make any preparations she still needs to make with You. I pray for Mario, that You will give him and the rest of the family a sense of Your loving presence, power, and purpose, that they will also sense that great value of having You personally take an interest in them at this and all times, and that You are not standing by idle, but are truly involved. I pray that though the most loving, sincere family members, caregivers, and people that we do business with may say how much they love us and want to help, we still do not "overly" trust in their limited abilities in place of putting our full trust in You (Proverbs 3:5-6; Psalms 37:5; Psalms 55:22). Again, I pray that Mario and his family will come to experientially learn these things in such a way that will be a great blessing to them, and a pleasure to You. Amen.
