Hi Everyone,

I thought I'd better come in and introduce myself.

I have just returned from a leave of absence from staff, and am now taking on a slightly different role. I remain a supervisor, but instead of training I am back on forums. I am very happy to be doing this.

One of my new forums is here in SDA.

I do not have vast amounts of knowledge of the SDA or the issues of this particular forum, but am looking forward to learning more and getting to know you all. I am sure your moderators will be able to help me out though.

Then again - what did you guys do to deserve 3 Anglicans on your forum? :)

I look forward to getting to know you all better. Please feel free to pm me with any questions or concerns. I'm happy to be contacted.

In Christ

what did you do to deserve us???
Now you've got me worried. Is there something you're not telling me? Maybe it's got something to do with why they keep putting anglican mods in here.

Thanks for the welcome everyone.

Welcome!

I enjoy the wide parameters that the mods here give us in our discussions. It's such a refreshing change from other SDA forums where Adventist propaganda regurgitation and Stepford wives head-nodding is the order of the day.

Thank you - I'll have to make some time to go and have a read.
I do have an SDA woman in our bible study, so have learned a little from her. But she is in the other half of our group this year, so don't get to chat with her as much this year.

I also want to welcome you here in your leadership/moderator-type role.

It is my understanding though that there is only one person who is a Seventh-day Adventist in some type of a leadership/moderator-type role here in the SDA section.

Why is that?

Are there not any of us who are qualified to fill such a role? If not, again, I ask why?

That is correct. I have resigned, though, and will soon be officially off staff. For anyone who is interested, here are the eligibility requirements for moderators at CF:

To be considered for a moderator position, you must meet the following criteria:

* You must be at least 16 years of age.
* You must have a minimum of 500 posts.
* You must be a member of CF for a minimum of 6 months.
* Only Christians agreeing with the basics of the Nicene Creed and the Trinitarian nature of God as listed in our rules will be considered for a moderator position.
* Due to the public nature of this ministry, you must not be active in public controversial activities that may be considered prohibited by the Bible -- this includes, but is not limited to, engaging in the lifestyle of homosexuality or premarital/extramarital sexual relations.
* You must not subscribe to some controversial theologies or activities such as Full Preterism, Open Theism, Universal Salvation or Freemasonry.
* You must attend some form of Christian church on a regular basis unless there are legitimate reasons to prevent this.

CF’s missions is to unite Christians. We welcome all as members, but the above controversial issues mentioned seem to create disunity and hence are avoided on staff.

The above criteria must be met in order for the application to be considered for a staff position with the following exception: a staff member making a referral can request that staff consider a waiver of the criteria for an applicant. Typically, only the first three criteria are waived, and only in special circumstances.

Other factors that are considered in evaluating applications are: warnings and staff actions received, substance of posts, theological and/or spiritual depth, overall interaction with others on the forums, depth of information provided in your application, etc.

To work in the SDA forum, you would apply to join the Ecumenical Team, which is the team that handles all of the congregational forums.

Hi Red,

Well there is a diverse answer to that, as we are a diverse crowd.

For instance I am a reformed evangelical low church anglican. We also have high church anglo catholics, high and low church liberals, and everything in between.

As to differing to the Roman Catholics.

Some are more similar than others. I think it's safe to say that most do not see the Pope as having authority, and many would hold a different view of Mary.

For me, I am a Protestant, and so hold very different views to most Roman Catholics.

If you take a look at the 39 Articles it'll give you an idea of what I believe - although some anglicans reject this doctrine.
