• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

But that's just it. Your interpretation of God is not the biblical one.

How so?

Again, my kids doing wrong or good are not faults. They are free choices.

Do your kids have the free choice of suddenly turning invisible? If not, has God taken away their free will? Why couldn't God make doing wrong as impossible as turning invisible?

I would also forgive them should they come to me and merely ask.

Would you punish your grandchildren for something your children did?

And even if I know what would befall them I would still have them, because not having them at all would be worse.

So God could have made Adam and Eve so that they wouldn't sin, but he decided to make them so they would sin, and then punished the rest of humanity for something they didn't do. Yeah, nice theology you have going there.

I think somehow you want absolutely no evil and free will.

Well, that is what it will be like in the new heavens and earth. The end result of God's plan. Will you be there? Have you accepted Jesus as your lord and savior? Have you turned back to God your creator?

Then why can't it be like that on this earth?

Then why not start humans in the heavens?
Have you accepted Jesus as your lord and savior?

Have you sacrificed an animal for Zeus today?

Have you turned back to God your creator?

Have you turned your back on Vishnu?

Aah...still squirming I see....

Let's see how far away from a 'biblical interpretation' I am.....

Do you believe that your god designed and created us...?

Do you believe that we were created with capacity to choose both good and evil?

Do you believe that your god is all- seeing.....that it has known in advance all the choices we will make in our lives....?

Do you believe that your god makes a judgement of us, in order to determine those who will receive its gift of eternal life...?

Now tell me that my interpretation is faulty......

FREE will is still present even though we are elected.

1 Peter 1:2 elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father

so when God chose adam, He knew what adam would do ahead of time. Yes He took the apple but He still followed God.

If you take an apple and run away from God then you are obviously not chosen. God didn't chose that person. He choses in part on foreknowledge of whether or not someone will also follow Him.

Just like you'd torture them forever and ever if they don't love you, right?

we don't know everythought and how "mans heart is evil continually"

our kids, well we can't read their minds, so it's different.

Meh ...

They've found a doctrine to push around and use as a conduit to vent their anger and ridicule at God and us for awhile.

When they get bored, they'll move on to something else.

Why do you need to read their minds? Your book just told you in your previous sentence: "mans heart is evil continuously." You know, you've just told me you already know.

Also, you're not winning any points morally by giving an I-can't-read-my-kids-minds-but-if-I-could-I'd-be-justified-in-torturing-them-forever, defense.

so you if you could read someone's mind that was evil continually, manson style.....you would just blow it off?

Once you imprisoned them they'd do it again.

true, it doesn't make any sense to me, I honestly don't understand the confusion. I mean maybe a little, but not really.

Nice attempt at shifting the focus.....yet again...

It may have escaped your ability to analyse, but it's pretty well impossible to "vent anger" against something which you don't believe exists...!

But hey....anything rather than focusing on the question....right?

It can be kind of confusing when you find something that is blatantly clear to you that others completely dont understand.
