  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Adam and Eves sin is the cause, not God. Your question is rather, why doesn't God stop the suffering?
Blaming God for Adam & Eve's sin is like blaming Lee Iacocca for every GM car that is stolen.

Lee Iacocca never claimed to be omnipotent and omniscient. If he were he could have created an automobile that could never be stolen, would never be in an accident, and would never break down. If Iacocca were omnipotent we could blame him for every GM car that was stolen.

Is He now?

Perhaps He operates on another set of standards and a higher knowledge base than you?

With that argument you could excuse any behavior, even the most heinous genocide could be explained away. If Hitler had said that he used another set of standards with a higher knowledge than you, would you have excused his actions?

God created Adam and Eve, and according to you God knew that they would do the very things they did do before God even created them. An omnipotent God, by definition, could have created the world so they would not have sinned and that would have prevented the pain and suffering of billions, according to your beliefs.

Also, when was the last time anyone gave the death penalty to a child because of something their great-grandfather did? How is that anywhere close to being moral?

Of course. If your child were suffering and you could easily stop their suffering, isn't it your moral duty to stop that suffering? Don't we put parents in jail for neglecting their children?

If history is any indication, it will only increase suffering.

Yes, the part of christianity that is immoral - let me pass my sins on to someone else. I can lie, cheat, steal and kill while on this earth, but as long as I accept Jesus right before the end, I am saved and will live in paradise.

On the other hand, those poor people that were born in another part of the world that were exposed to another religion, are praying to the wrong God and even though they may be good people, they are screwed.

You gotta love that type of rationalization, don't you? But it all makes perfect sense to them, or, many claim it does.

He can also speak outside of time.

Isaiah 46:10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:
God can go back in time. If I need healing for something in my childhood it is no problem for God to go back and heal it. All we have to do is pray and ask. The Bible says we have not because we ask not.

So if you pray to go back in time to fix something in your childhood, does God give you what you want 100% of the time? If so, please give an example of this.

God COULD have known. He also can choose NOT to know. There are lots of people in the world today. Some choose to sin, some choose not to sin. It is their choice. You can not blame God for the choice you make. He will hold you accountable & responsible.

Noooow you're starting to see the idea behind Jesus' vicarious sacrifice, aren't you?

God is omnipotent, and God ...

Isaiah 53:6b ... hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

All we need to do now to get you to fully understand, is to realize who is really to blame for Original Sin.

And that is going to have to be the Holy Ghost's job.

Blood sacrifice, because that's necessary!

I love it. Twist to whatever makes him look better. God could have known or he can choose not to know. So I guess, that is what God decided with all the bad stuff in the world, he just chose not to know.

I thought he was 'all knowing'?

You betchum! :)

Hebrews 9:22b and without shedding of blood is no remission.

Now you get the idea why God respected Abel's sacrifice over Cain's.

God is good and He only gives us good gifts. We do not always know what is best for us, but God does. I remember once when I was a kid I wanted a bicycle. Even I entered a contest to win that bicycle. I prayed and asked God to allow me to win that contest. I did not get the bicycle. Well actually I did get the bicycle only it was much later in time. At least 10 years later. There was a lesson in all of that for me. We are here to serve God. That is why they call this the Kingdom of God and He is the King. We like to turn that around and make our self to be the King and we expect God to serve us and it simply does not work that way. Even Jesus goes to a great extent teaching us what it means to be a servant. He did this when He washed the disciples feet. Those who are great in the kingdom are least here on earth because they are a servant to all. We are told the last shall be first and the first shall be last. The greatest shall be the least and the least shall be the greatest. That is the way it works with God in the Kingdom of God. If we are humble He will lift us up. If we try to exalt ourselves watch out because we are going to be in trouble. Not to say that we do not try to exalt self. This is just something we struggle with to overcome as Christians.

You didn't answer my question. Does God always answer your prayers to go back in time to your childhood to fix something for you?

When we are forgiven then He says:“Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more".

For those who go before God for Judgement we are told that they are judged based on what is written in the books: Revelation 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is [the book] of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

Sorry, doesn't jibe with an all knowing God.
