An appeal for a new rule

There has been talk circulating amongst certain Progs and Formers, myself included, about adding a new rule to the Prog section that would essentially lock the Trads from coming into our area. As it is clear the spite-reporting has gotten only worse in here, I feel this option is more needed than ever.

Hopefully we can continue to work towards a split forum and we Progs can have our own area away from all of this. But in the meantime, I want to know who would be in favor of adding a new rule rule not allowing any Trads to come in here and use our area as yet another vehicle for thier TSDA cyber-bully pulpit. I know most of you Progs wanted to allow them in here, but I also know the mood has changed drastically lately on that for some of you. I, of course, have never wanted them in here and maintained that from day one. It has never made any sense to me to allow people in here who have a clear agenda to get our area shut down and wiped off this forum. The Prog area is nothing but a cancer, a blight to them, a barrier in their goal to make this whole place a P.R. vehicle for TSDAism.

Do I have your support to do what should have been done long ago?

We have already lost too many good forum members because of this nonsense. The Trads have their own areas and they have taken over the whole forum except in here. Yet they still come in here and report with glee, trying to get us banned. They are blatantly abusing the generosity you have shown them and they are thumbing their noses at you in the process.

Since it seems too much to ask that they leave us alone to our own area, I say we need to enforce a rule that would ban them from coming in here and posting. If they don't like what we say in here, they just need to STAY OUT.

Please, add your support to getting this new rule in place and let's make our corner a place where we can discuss without them coming in here, reporting and getting our threads locked and deleted as well as getting us nailed with RV's.

NonTSDA mods, please offer some input on this and tell us what our options are for adding this new rule. What are the measures we need to take and how many do we need on board to make it happen?

Outlining procedures for getting this done would also be appreciated.

Maybe we could make it a 'voluntary' system? The 'progressives' stay out of the 'Traditional' area and the 'traditionalist' stay out of the 'Progressive' area? That would solve the problem don't you think Night?

I like the idea of being able to 'come-and-go' in either forum as I please frankly.

I like the idea of being able to come and go to any forum too, although I don't think I'm one of the problems.

The thing that presents us with the problem is people going to the other forum and taking it upon themselves what should and should not be said in there. The report button is essentially an "attack" button and is used by people who disagree with the poster.

In addition, I've always said this and I still stand by it, but there needs to be penalties for people abusing the report system! And I think everyone in the SDA forum knows it happens too.

Every time someone gets their panties in a wad over there--then the spite reporting starts over here. It's just pure nonsense.

Typical, since she is one of the worst offenders and the one of the main reasons we need this new rule to go into effect.

I just find it so hilarious that when the this sub-forum rules were being voted upon by you guys, you all bragged so much about how open-minded you were and so very tolerant of other ppl's opinions and invited ALL, even the trads into this forum. But now we find that that isn't the truth at all is it? Now you want to bar a certain segment of your church from partaking in your discussions.

Differing believes isn't the problem. It's the way people conduct themselves.

that was the idea behind leaving the prog sub-forum open. Of course the Trad's created a sub-forum with severe restrictions and a particularly narrow view allowed. We can't do that or we would be just like the Traditionals and that is not acceptable. That there are several of the Traditionals who come here simply to cause trouble merely shows their lack of courtesy and intolerance. They have their own sub-forum but desire to act as if the progressive sub-forum is theirs also. And they strike out at visitors here as if it was a Traditional sub-forum.

So you may think that this is from both sides but we are really dealing with the hypocrisy of certain of the traditionalists. Certainly not all just a few. They have been asked not to bother use on this sub forum and simply disregard the requests.

I don't think the answer to dealing with jerks is to behave like jerks. So I can't go along with making the progressive sub forum restricted like the traditionals have done with theirs. It is rather like the sermon on the mount where we need to be patient with those who are offensive, hypocritical, those who take what is not theirs.

It is of course all the more telling on a Christian forum to see people behave so badly and to provoke others to behave badly.

I am aware of the Trads' restrictions on their forum. I like that the progs want to keep theirs open as well.

But my point still stands. I didn't ask for finger-pointing. I know who most of the "trouble makers" are and, yes, they do come from both sides. Whether it be abusing reports, flaming or antagonism, or taking severe offense at issues that do not concern them.

I'm not an old-timer here but I've been here long enough to know who usually causes a stir...and also who is the mostly likely to strike back.
