Great, thanks!

I also have a question. I thought that the Amish forbade cameras, mirrors, etc, anything that might make them seem or feel conceited/vain. Are television cameras an exception, or is this particular group of Amish people from a very liberal community? Does anyone know?

These are young folks from the Amish communities that have left their home communities for now. Between the time that young people turn 16 until they decide to join the church, they are not bound by the rules of the church and can do pretty much what they want. Once they decide to become a member of the church, though, then it would not be acceptable to do this kind of thing. Usually when one joins the Amish church it is a lifelong committment, although some do leave. For example, one of the guys on the show (Mose) was a member, but decided to leave and see what was out there and then decide whether or not to come back to the church. I don't know if his church has, but some Amish churches would excommunicate him for leaving. He could come back to the church if he wanted to as long as he apologized before the church and agreed to abide by the rules of the church again.

Don't know if that made any sense, but there ya go! :)

Yes...what she said, lol! They have this time period in their late-teens (called something like rupspringa...lol, or something like that) where they go out and decide whether or not they want to fully devote their life to God! I guess it would be similar to baptism in some religions (those which do not baptize at birth).

Yeah...rumspringa. :) When you are baptized in the Amish church, that's when you become a member. So none of these kids (with the exception of Mose) have been baptized as of yet and are not members of the church. A lot of times young people will join the church (get baptized) when they are engaged, as they would have to be baptized in order to be married in the Amish church. Though, as in any religion, there are some who don't go out looking, but join the church fairly soon after they turn 16 and really never experiment.

Some of the Amish kids REALLY seem to be enjoying themselves! Miriam, for example, REALLY seems to like the freedom of being about to dress "city" and go out and party! I thought that was REALLY odd that she partied and "hooked up" like she did! I mean...I figured they would maybe go along to clubs and stuff, but I didn't think any of the Amish would "go all out" and get crazy like that! I think Miriam's good looks (you have to admit, she is a very pretty girl) may have something to do with it, because she seems to be getting alot of attention from the guys (in the house or elsewhere)! I dunno...I could be wrong!!

My one comment about the show is that tossing the Amish into Los Angeles is going to produce a lot different a raumspringa than if they went to Terra Haute or St. Louis. :D I've really been enjoying the show, though I did miss last weeks episode. This has been a lot better than WB's High School Reunion was. Ugh!

I dont watch it on the principle i am concerned its an effort to make the amish people to be corrupted and draw from their beliefs.

Just like temptation island made me wanna slap someone....... ok not really but i would have gicen them a really mean look lol

But that's the whole purpose of rumspringer, to see if they would rather live outside the community or fully commit to it for the rest of their lives. They're supposed to be tempted.

And the comparison to the tawdry trash of Temptation Island is unfair. There's been no indication that any of the Amish have drank or had sex or anything like that (I think I saw one of the girls smoking). One of the guys felt bad about something that I forget and was shown in fervent prayer. Overall the Amish are coming off very good in the series.

About the tawdriest part of it was when some of them at sushi off a bikini clad model, and most of the comments were about the sushi.
