Do you make this stuff up as you go along? The CDC says that masks should be washed once a day. It says nothing about changing them every hour. Cloth masks are reusable. Your claim that “they are not reusable” is false. The CDC does not agree with your wild statement that all facial hair makes masks ineffective.

CDC: “Reusable masks should be washed whenever it gets dirty or at least daily.”

Daily. Nothing here about changing masks every hour.

The CDC does recommend a double layer of masks for men with beards, as one way of dealing with this situation.

You mention “pro-maskers”. Is that your term for people who need masks to protect their health and people who want their neighbors to go on living?

A new poll by Axios shows that Americans are rebelling against governors who are trying to prevent local governents and school districts from protecting their children and citizens from COVID-19 infections:

1. Support for state and local government mask requirements is strong, but few say it’s been required in the last few weeks.

Two-thirds (64%) support their state or local government requiring masks to be worn in all public places.

However, there are significant partisan differences, with the vast majority of Democrats (88%) and less than half of Republicans (40%) in favor of state or local mask mandates.

2. A strong majority support requiring masks in schools, and most don’t want state governments prohibiting local mask requirements.
...
The intrigue: In a new question this week, respondents were asked how much trust they place in conservative news — and about one in three of both vaccinated and unvaccinated Americans said they have a great or fair amount of trust.

Looks like a real grass-roots rebellion against tyranny is brewing.

This is actually interesting because, if big government prevents a ban on gay marriage, that's a big no no and it's big brother forcing his way into our lives. But then if big government prevents local mask mandates, then that's not big brother, that's just liberty and freedom from the oppressors.

It's really interesting. But I think a difference between the two above topics is that, what two gay people do in their own private bedroom doesn't really hurt me, and it most certainly doesn't prevent me from practicing my faith. Whereas people not social distancing and spreading a deadly virus literally can hurt me (unintentionally, but it has none the less).

But to be fair, many Americans do view gay people as more dangerous than covid-19, if we are being honest about the topic. Especially among Christians. Just telling it like it is. The bold and uncensored truth.

Interesting topic for sure.

Sensible adults with memories are afraid of GOVERNMENTS with unfettered power and control. They have long sought to circumvent our freedom under guise of "health" and in the end, if we let them, they will mass murder millions again (perhaps under guise of "the enemies of health" or some other banal sheep's clothing?).

Go here if you are tempted to utter the word "conspiracy":

DEATH BY GOVERNMENT: GENOCIDE AND MASS MURDER

I think this is really what all the covid drama really comes down to. It's not even about the virus, it's not about vaccines, it's not about black lives matters, nor is it about confederate statues or wearing masks.

It really seems to come down to people who have concerns, or even fear, about things like communism.

Which, I kind of find a bit strange. It's good to keep government in check, but when does it become irrational to get vaccinated due to fear of communism? If it were the black plage and millions of Americans were dying, would there still be rebels decrying government vaccine mandates? Probably.

When moisture comes out of your mouth, cloth masks stop at least some of that moisture from going off onto tables and door knobs. Coronavirus travels in saliva of the infected, at least some of the time.

Therefore, the simple conclusion is that masks, even just cloth masks, slow the spread of moisture containing virus, and cloth masks are better than no mask at all. Hence why doctors have been wearing masks for countless years before the pandemic even began.

State Fair of Texas defies the Governor, and will have mask mandates for those inside buildings, in crowded outside areas, and in some vendor locations.
Wear a face covering. Masks protect everyone. Plan to bring a mask for yourself and everyone in your party with you to attend the 2021 State Fair of Texas. Wear a mask in the following settings if you are older than age 2 and medically able to wear one:

Indoors, for both vaccinated and unvaccinated people. As of August 25, given the current situation with increasing COVID cases in Dallas County and the current Dallas County order on the Required Use of a Face Mask in Certain Public Space, masks will be required when indoors. Wearing a mask in indoor public spaces, regardless of your vaccination status, can help protect you and everyone in close proximity to you.

Outdoors in crowded settings, especially if you are not vaccinated.

At some independent vendor booths who may require everyone in their booths

You've been fooled again...
ACS Nano 2020 May 26;14(5):6339-6347
Aerosol Filtration Efficiency of Common Fabrics Used in Respiratory Cloth Masks
...We have carried out these studies for several common fabrics including cotton, silk, chiffon, flannel, various synthetics, and their combinations. Although the filtration efficiencies for various fabrics when a single layer was used ranged from 5 to 80% and 5 to 95% for particle sizes of <300 nm and >300 nm, respectively, the efficiencies improved when multiple layers were used and when using a specific combination of different fabrics. Filtration efficiencies of the hybrids (such as cotton-silk, cotton-chiffon, cotton-flannel) was >80% (for particles <300 nm) and >90% (for particles >300 nm). We speculate that the enhanced performance of the hybrids is likely due to the combined effect of mechanical and electrostatic-based filtration. Cotton, the most widely used material for cloth masks performs better at higher weave densities (i.e., thread count) and can make a significant difference in filtration efficiencies. Our studies also imply that gaps (as caused by an improper fit of the mask) can result in over a 60% decrease in the filtration efficiency, implying the need for future cloth mask design studies to take into account issues of "fit" and leakage, while allowing the exhaled air to vent efficiently. Overall, we find that combinations of various commonly available fabrics used in cloth masks can potentially provide significant protection against the transmission of aerosol particles.

are probably the least effective of masking options, but they are still better than nothing.
