TheDandyMan said:Billy Joe Armstrong tried to be as offensive as he could on that record. He wanted the controversy that inevitably ensued from that release. It seems a bit idiotic to me, making people angry because you can whilst proclaiming that you detest the shallowness of popular American culture (of which green day is at the forefront of).
Anyhow, I don't like them because, as a previous poster said, the songs are almost numblingly basic.

Personally I suggest everyone be like me, rip all of their music to your 'puter and make a "Best Of" playlist like I did.![]()
The Shasta said:Green Day is not punk. They're a make-up band that plays 40 dollar soldout-stadium shows. Face facts.
So you thought they were cool? And back in the day..how far in back in the day...b/c they've been play for about 15 years now...And there stilling getting number ones... And about the bad musicians thing...they no how to play ther instruments well...you have to admite that..b/c they do play them. The Shasta said:They used to be cool(bad musicians, though) back in the day.
The Shasta said:If you're dropdead obsessed with Green Day and Good Charlotte and Simple Plan and the like, that's super. Just, please-
A. Don't talk about it. Much less rant and rant and rant about it.
And B. Don't act like you know good music.

Triggy said:I have to strongly disagree with this. The fact that they scored so high on the charts... there's a reason for it.
Triggy said:It's not because people are stupid and zombified by famous people, nor is it because the album was offensive, something some people consider funny.
Triggy said:To me they are just words, nothing more. Sticks and stones my friends... sticks and stones.
Triggy said:Maybe some of you just don't like the message. That's fine. I do though. Greenday's lyrics and playing style just touch me in a way I can't well describe... and (I mean NO offense by this) I don't think most of this forums visitors would understand if I could....

...oi...
Christian Rock - ...who? Hardcore-Christian is alright, but........WHO? Toby Mac? No. "Skillet"? No way. Reliant K? Blech. The only good Christian material out there would probably be...well...listen to Kathy Mattea's Christmas Collage. Ever last song in there is a masterpiece. Gregorian chants are interesting as well. But Christian rock? Please.
Country - James Taylor...but he's more folk than country, anyway. So nobody. It's all the same. All of it. Imagine a genre where they all have 3 different choices of beats but the lyrics vary. And there you have country.
Soft Rock - I could think of many. Soft rock is indeed good stuff.
Anything that has a beat - Sure beats country.
Purposely writing a song that is a horridly overused cliche (not to mention one to lament) is like spitting on music theory's face. There are far too many very poor musicians out there and far too many people who listen to music but do not understand the concepts and beauty of music.
I am horrible at math. Manual jobs are a challenge because I have a serious problem with attention. I get bad grades, but if whichever higher power gave me a gift, the gift that really shines is music. I truly devote myself to the amazing glory of it, I cherish it as if it were apart of me and I have since I could comprehend anything as a child. I've taken plenty of lessons music-related from plenty of people who also love music. Instrumental, vocal, composition, conducting, theory....you name it, I know it.
And I'm not some kid who loves all this metal and rock and etc. I love music. Dearly. Name any genre and I could name you plenty of artists and albums and songs and what makes them unique. Many people say music is their life when it really plays a small roll but I can assure you, music is my life.
And that is why I know what I'm talking about, HolyPlace.

Dude, country music is just, disgusting. Christian rock is all right(despite my screen name).Emo is awesome though. Underoath,Dead Poetic,Further Seems Forever,Showbread- there's some wicked awesome bands. What's wrong with Skillet? I get hating Relient K and tobyMac-but Skillet is an awesome band.
The concepts of music ...ahh were to began..Music (in my opion) in a form of art. It is a way people express there selfs...and as shown in American Idoit..they give there opions. The Shasta said:There are far too many very poor musicians out there and far too many people who listen to music but do not understand the concepts and beauty of music.
Its great that you take lso many different kinds of music lessons ..But the great thing is so do I. I've taken 7 years Panio, 3 years of band.a couple voice lessons...and i'm getting into gutiar. People like you are wat make the music industry..if thats wat you want then i hope you follow it.The Shasta said:I am horrible at math.
