  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

American Idiot isn't bad, but it's far from the best album ever. I mean FAR. I listen to it on occasion, but, to be honest, I think Dookie, Nimrod, and even Insomniac are better. It was a good comeback album though; I was starting to worry that all hope was lost after Warning.

AND one of the best rock operas.
Do you even know what you are talking about here?
It's hardly a "rock opera"

I would suggest you check out the Who's "Tommy" if you want to talk about Rock opera's.....

Yep, I agree. I loved American Idiot when I first heard it, but the novelty has worn off some.

Yeah, I mean, winning a Grammy doesn't make an album good or anything. :p

What? Look at some of the ridiculously terrible albums that have won a Grammy (especially in the Christian section).

Just take a look at Jars of Clay. They get a nomination for the album that was by far the best (their self-titled debut), then Much Afraid (a pretty good album), and If I Left the Zoo (terrible album) won Grammys. Then, Eleventh Hour, their worst album yet, wins another Grammy! And Who We Are Instead is nominated again last year.

The Grammys are hopelessly screwed up nowadays.

I think there's some great irony in that, with Billy Joe Armstrong trying to be as offensive as he could in the album, he himself looks more like an American Idiot than anybody.

LOL! AGREED!

But i think that song totally rocks! I'm learning to play it on guitar....and its rather easy! Most of their good songs only consist of about 4 chords! Boulevard of Broken Dreams, Good Riddance (Time of your Life) etc...

I would buy the album, but they swear in alot of their songs, and that somthing i dont really wanna hear all the time, its hard enough not to swear at school anyway....i dont need the extra influence! And just some of the song names from the American Idiot album, have "Jesus" in it, and i seriously doubt that they would be singing about him in an honouring way!

Green Day - Best album ever made, sorry, those words just don't go together, it is musicly, lyricly, compositionally, emotionally infurior to soooooooooo many bands (that's just a fact, not opinion, well, ok, I gues if you get all teary eyed from their lyrics that's your good right, but musicly it's probebly one of simplest albums made)

inferior??? what are you talking about? you can't argue it's inferior cause everyone's view is different when it comes to music. also, so what if it's not highly complicated? when it comes to rock i have found that simplicity is key. there have been so many groundbreaking cd's that are simple.

I can't stand Green Day. I want to throw my head through a wall every time I see Billy Joe Armstrong on tv. Their music is garbage and overrated, and they should have quit long ago.
