  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

America is such a diverse collection of people, geography, and experiences that I know my favorite things about America may be completely foreign to other people in America.

Also God made other continents as well, not just america.
lol.

That have similar things, you know, trees, animals, rivers, lakes etc.

However there are some uniquely american animals like...
moose
grizzly bears
bald eagles
and...all those animals on the galapagos islands. Darwin thought they were so different that they had somehow magically changed from other kinds of animals britain already had and called it 'evolution'. Silly man!

So it's not OK when people post off-topic things in your threads, but it's fine for you to bring up evolution in a thread about America. How does that work?

I remember i had a travel buddy years ago who was american and she told me all her friends thought she was weird for going globetrotting (travelling) as most ppl in america stayed in their own country and never left.

She also said half of her family lived in a trailer park. And on the fourth of july they had a big feast and she made jumbo. She also...couldnt drive a manual car. So when we hired a car to go round the island she got in and stalled it lol i had to drive it.

She loved to talk and chat and i would just be sitting their listening. She wasnt really curious about where I came from at all. Lol

That is not true. You have a lot of misconceptions about Americans and the country of America. You have the same ignorance that you try to project on all Americans. You are no better than the imaginary ignorant American that you think we all are from meeting one person or watching movies. And no, Jesus wasn't American, but your weird claim that it's okay to bash Americans because Jesus wasn't American so it shouldn't matter to anyone is as repulsive and ignorant as saying it's okay to throw racial slurs at Chinese people b/c Jesus wasn't Chinese so no one should get mad. You shouldn't actively try to bait and down specific groups of people at all. Nor should you defend that. Not only is it not very Christian and morally repugnant; it's bullying.

Yeah, the majority of us do not have a passport.

I've never driven a manual car, and I think I've only been in one twice. Once in Europe, once here.

American is pretty big and we can be exposed to a variety cultures and landscapes without leaving the country. Do most people from China or Soviet Union travel outside of their countries?

Okay, I'm old. All my geography was done while that was still a single country so yes, I have to pause to picture it as individual countries...
Ah, no problem.

I've seen the numbers for a few other countries, but I don't happen to remember the statistics for China or Russia. Is there a particular reason why you're asking me?

I was responding to your statement...but I guess the comment was more open. Driving around most areas in the world, you would be changing countries when we are actually only crossing state lines. So I have made multiple car trips that were over 5000 miles but I never once left the US and never got close to either coast.

It's amazing just how much information and knowledge is now available at our fingertips. I don't think those under 35 can appreciate just how world-changing the internet has become. It is akin to Eve taking a bite out of the apple and having all knowledge of sin revealed. Which is ironic considering Apple's logo is an apple with a bite out of it... Hmmm....

When I was a young sailor, my first duty station was Kauai, HI. I had never been there and was in training in Memphis, TN when I learned where I was going. My car at the time in 1988 was a 1984 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe. A very hot car at the time.

I had no internet to access to learn more about the Island. There was no library on base and I had 3 weeks to get my affairs in order and move half-way across the globe. I asked older sailors about Kauai. They told me all it had was dirt roads and even though the Navy would ship my car there for free, it would be worthless.

I sold my car quickly and at a loss.

When I got to Kauai, there were paved roads every where and I learned my T-Bird would have been worth substantially more had I had it shipped there for free by the Navy.

What I'm trying to say is that 20 years ago, you had to travel somewhere to actually learn about it and to get the truth. Nowadays, you can use the power of the internet to learn everything about a location nearly anywhere in the world.

Trouble is many people just don't want to learn and don't take the time to find out about countries outside of their own. Even with internet.

Because you communicate in english it seems like many americans just assume everyone is westernised and american, watch the same tv, same movies, listen to the same music etc. I was chatting with an american from CF and of course he assumed I listened to the same rock music that he did. I was like..I've never heard of these obscure bands lol.
