 Much better overall package than Jeff Probst, in my opinion - the looks and the brain ;)
Oh yes, of course! Then again, I don't like Surivor at all ...never got into it. However, I'm always impressed by Phil's composure in dealing with the teams' reactions, and he always seems to encourage the teams that need encouragement. He seems to be a real gent.

Against my better judgement, I find my self rooting for the Goths.

And of course, I always root for teams with old people in them, so this time it's the grandpa & grandson, and the old Chinese guy and his daughter.
i agree with you, that is the team that im cheering for myself.I think they will be very good competition for the rest of them.I also do like the chinise daughter nd grandfather team.:)

Fun episode tonight. Dad and daughter team have issues though... well, at least dad.

Oh, I know! I wanted to belt him one, the way he was talking down to his daughter and all. I could tell she was becoming really frustrated with him. I commend her for keeping her cool rather well.

question: why do so many couples go on TAR as a "test" to their relationship?

"We're at a crossroads in our relationship and being on the race will help us to know if we're meant to be together."

not an exact quote from anyone in particular, but you get the idea.

What about the idea of being on TAR ...just to be in a race, you know? What a novel concept! Save your relationship issues for your private lives.:p

What's sad is I really liked him in the first ep. I had no idea that their distance was because of what a Type-A controlling jerk he was.

Snooch? SotFB? AirPo? They're not here so we can't reply together but there's a phrase to describe such people - media harlots. For as much as I love TAR, some of the teams are made of people who would be better suited to be on Jerry Springer.

I guess it makes for good "reality" TV.

That guy just drives me nuts! I wanted to hit the mute button whenever he was talking. I feel so sorry for her. :(

I think tAR is a huge challenge for any team, even best friends or married couples can get snippy at some point, so you have to know if you're going into it, it is going to be "a test" for your relationship ... whatever kind of relationship you have with your teammate. So hopefully those couples mean to say that they know what they're getting into and they're prepare to deal with whatever it may bring out in another. Of course I can't speak for them, I'm just trying to shed a little light on what they may have meant.

The only thing I can't imagine is the "newly dating" couple on the Amazing Race. I can't even imagine doing that to a new relationship! That's very bold IMO.

btw Did anybody else notice that the only married couple on this race is the lesbian couple? I thought that to be a little strange and plenty ironic. oh and no gay men this time either, just tons of dating couples.

I think so far, I've picked out Rachel & TK to cheer for as well as Jason although I don't like his girl Lorena. ...I think she needs to be on some kind of meds ...for real!

Yup, media harlot is the perfect phrase. There is no way I would go on national television and "test" my relationship for all the world to see. If your relationship needs testing, you're better off doing it in a counseling office than in front of 10 million of your new best friends. ;)

Ari was gay.

I'm not sure I get what is ironic about the only married couple being lesbian. You mean a "10,000 spoons when all you need is a knife" kind of ironic, or what?

Ironic as in a lot of states and even countries don't support or allow homosexual marriages, therefore they wouldn't actually be considered a married couple in many places.

It's not just that so much as that they consider themselves "married ministers". To a lot of Christians that is offensive. I'm just glad they're gone mainly because they were a distraction. It seems that they weren't really interested in winning as in making a point and CBS was happy to oblige in order to advance their agenda. They really stood no chance due to their physical condition and lack of competitiveness.
