CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I guess I'm here at CF because I need some kind of fellowship with other Christians. I don't get out of the house much and I don't socialize much, but I need to be able to talk to people sometimes. I'm trying very hard to avoid the topic areas around here that seem to attract the arguments and heated debates, but I like to be able to chime in here and there on topics I'm interested in.

I'm interested in reading up on the differences between the different denominations. I still haven't decided which fits my beliefs yet, and I'd like to someday be able to say "I'm a [fill in the blank]" instead of just saying that I am a non-denominational Christian.
I like the topics that deal with Bible study too. Even though I've read the Bible a couple of times, I've never studied it. I'm looking to learn how people approach their studies.
Through all of it though, I have to be discerning because people color their posts with their own feelings (as do I), so I need to sort out what is fact from what is conjecture. That's difficult sometimes.
