Am I, a Catholic, saved according to a Baptist? I'm just looking to see some of the reasoning behind why I would or wouldn't be considered saved.

Of course a person isn't justified based on which denomination he belongs to - that's not what I meant to imply.kayanne said:You would have to give us more information of course (I think you know that). No one is saved on the basis of what church he attends or what he calls himself.
A question many Baptists ask people is "If you died tonight, and God asked you 'Why should I let you enter my kingdom?' what would you say?"
So what would your answer to that question be?

And to God's question, I would reply: "I am your daughter, my Father, and I love you. Because of your great love, you sent your Son into the world for the forgiveness of my sins. I choose Him - He is my savior. May His sacrifice be mine, that you might look upon His perfection and see me."

It's not up to Baptists to determine whether or not you are saved. Your salvation is determined by your relationship with Jesus Christ.clskinner said:Am I, a Catholic, saved according to a Baptist? I'm just looking to see some of the reasoning behind why I would or wouldn't be considered saved.

seebs said:A very interesting question. I think I'd have to throw myself on the mercy of the court; I can think of no obvious reason for which I deserve any particular reward, therefore, anything I get will have to be because God is merciful, not because of anything in particular I've done.
I can't think of a good reason for Him to let me into Heaven. I certainly don't deserve it.kayanne said:A question many Baptists ask people is "If you died tonight, and God asked you 'Why should I let you enter my kingdom?' what would you say?"

Just for clarification on my intention behind this thread: It was less about my personal salvation, and more about what Baptists believe is necessary for salvation. That question was answered by Kayanne's response.computerjunkie said:It's not up to Baptists to determine whether or not you are saved. So, for you and anyone else who wants to answer the question, what do YOU consider salvation to be?

If this is the true confession of your heart, then yes! This is what is required of us for Salvation. (I'll see you there!)clskinner said:Of course a person isn't justified based on which denomination he belongs to - that's not what I meant to imply.
