  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Am I saved?

I have backslidding for many years, and I am not sure if I am still saved. I have had people tell me that I have lost my salvation, and other people tell me that once you are saved it is permanent. I even had someone tell me that I am lost without hope for I sinned an unforgivable sin by turning by back to God. I am really confused here and would appreciate some feedback, so I know what I have to do to get right with God. Thank You.

Sorry I had this post on my thread from initial post, so I apologize if anyone reads this twice.. Thanks :)

Hi friend, if you don´t have that reassurance in your heart that you belong to God and your name is written in the book of life why don´t you just make sure by asking Jesus to forgive your sins and receive you into his family?

No, it says you "shall be" saved, but 1st u gotta receive the Spirit:-
"he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour" (Titus 3v5) referring to this:-

Ac:2:4: And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Ac:2:33: Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath *shed forth* this, which ye now see and hear.
Ac:2:39: For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

. . .that means *you* and *me*... I've got that, have u ?

Basically, (that's how I like to see things!) ask yourself these:
1) Do you believe Jesus is the son of God?
2) Do you believe he came down from heaven, born as a man?
3) Do you believe he was perfect during his life?
4) Do you believe he died as this 'perfect' sacrifice to save us (taking our sins from us onto him) from our sins?
5) Do you believe he rose from the dead, defeating death, and therefore promising to let us beat 'death' (giving us eternal salvation with God in heaven)?

If you can answer 'Yes' to all of these, then tell God you believe it and ask Jesus to forgive you for your sins. This wipes all the history of EVERY bad thing you ever did, and removes the cloud of sin that was blocking you from God.

The reason why you are saved and can never be unsaved is coz you have the holy spirit in you when you first ask. But the reason why you might have done this and not now feel as if you are saved might be coz in the first place you weren't totally convinced.

Just ask a simple prayer to God to reveal himself to you. It might be really subtle, so recognise 'coincidences' as actually a sign from God!

Sorry, hope this ain't too complicated, it's supposed to be as simple as I can!!

Blaspheming the Holy Spirit basically means you reject my numbers 1-5 through refusal or lack of belief.

It means that you won't be saved (a harsh reality Christianity is often criticized for, but after all, God created the rules, not us!!)

If you're unsure about Christianity, I would urge you to consider all of the 'coincidences' in your life you can't explain. Many of these I believe are acts of God. However, all the bad things doesn't mean God not interfering, for the most part it is the sin of man causing these. Many people choose to blame God for the bad things rather than recognise the human fault.
