  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

How could a righteous God create unrighteous children and why would he since he can just as easily create ALL of them righteous?

If God, by nature, is righteous, then He cannot created unrighteousness.

We are not unrighteous because of our creation, we are unrighteous because we have Adam's nature. Christ came so that we would partake in His nature and be reconciled to God.

See 1 Corinthians 15:22.

Since, according to you, not ALL of us are God's children,

Actually, it's not "according to me", it's according to the Bible. I've already shown you several passages to demonstrate this.

I am just trying to figure out what side I am on ! Wouldn't want to deceived !!

Why don't you take a few minutes to read the verses I gave you and then you can tell me whether or not the Bible says you're a child of God.

I will not judge you.

However, let us compare Paul and Jesus' followers.
Paul sent Christians to prisonand put them to death, yet he was promised heaven and God spoke personally to him.
And Jesus said that tax collectors and prostitutes, if they repent will enter heaven.
The unwilling will go to hell.
The ones lukewarm in faith will go to hell.
The cowardly ones will go to hell, the second death.

If I'm not mistaken, this is a Christian site. Besides, that's not what Islam teaches anyway.

Sure it's a christian site, but couldn't I say the same thing over at a vodoo site? What does it mattter? Agreed, that's not what islam teaches. If you can't see the humor in a parody you won't able to see the message either.

May He have mercy on your soul.

Please no! If that's the same god in the old testament his mercy will be to drown you, dismember you, or otherwise mangle you in some very grusome way.

Now the mercy that Buddha taught, that's mercy I could agree with. You see when I think of mercy I think of being merciful, not of wiping out the entire planet, innocent or guilty, young and old alike.

Yeah I read it, I put it back in the fiction section after the first five chapters. Too gory for my taste, especially with the drowning the whole world thing. Not to mention the raping and murdering, the slaughter of innocent children, that's just not the kind of book I'm into, and if your god did all that he's just an accident waiting to happpen.
No, WE did all that. It's OUR fault.

Luke 12:19 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:

20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,

21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.

22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;

23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.

OK I would love to take your poll, but that really is not the issue here. First off, Hell is the absence of God. When people don't beleive in God, he no longer believes in them. If you spend your whole life ignoring God, then in the afterlife, He will ignore you. I don't know if hell is a specific place, or what, but that is what I know. God will always forgive you. But you are asking a question no one here can answer. I cannot tell you if you are going to hell! Your beliefs are your own, I may not agree with them, but that is not the issue. The fact is that at the end of your life, you will be judged. And no one here is going to be there with you. What you expect God to say, only you know. But I want Him to say, "Well done, good and faithful servant." I encourage you to ask the questions you are asking and if you ever would like to talk more about this I would love to engage in a thoughtful and polite discussion, and that goes for everyone else as well.

Hmmm, I've always wondered what the people who were so sure they are going to heaven will do when the one who gave the scripture is there (Jesus) and they can't take pride in thier interpretation of it.

I wouldn't worry - I don't personally believe in hell (other than earth which I call the "prison planet" on the theory that humans did something really bad in our past and the rest of the galaxy dumped us here knowing being with each other was the best punishment - I'm an optimist - really!). But having seen the people who are sure they are going to heaven and noting those who the same people are sure are going to hell, hell is definately going to have the better conversationalists (and jokes, because remember, God made sex and poo, but he doesn't like to joke about them).

I sometimes wonder if God, just to economize, won't put us all in the same place. The people who have learned Christ's habit of tolerance and love will be overjoyed; the people who wanted to be better than everyone else will be miserable.

No I assure you it's quite impossible for us to flood the entire world. I can also assure you that we are not able to send a fog which kills every firstborn child in Egypt. Nor can we rain fire, or make rivers of blood. Nono, these are some the gruesome acts of god described in the OT. I'd rather not think about some of the things he commanded people to do, but one comes to mind, which was to kill every man, woman, and child in a city, but spare the virgins and rape them all. Isn't that going a little bit overboard? Just a little maybe?
