The Bible was written mostly by Jews. They used the word "belief" differently than we used it. A belief as we know it does keep us from the Jewish belief in God, but a modern usage of the word belief concerning God will do you nothing. The Jews saw belief as more than just an acknowledgement. To believe is to "be" and "live" the belief. What you do with the belief is what matters the most (of course, conflicting beliefs will do just that: conflict.) If one lives in continual sin and they are supposedly saved, what more can God do for them?

Repent! :prayer:

Hello,

>Am I truly not a christian?

Christianity, being a christian, is rather simple.
1. Realise that on your own, you do not meet God's standard for perfection (we call it sin).
2. Trust in God to eliminate the 'sin' for you.
That means actually asking Him to do it, then put your trust in Him to do it.

The rest is guidance on how to live a more full life, being spiritually successful.

A Christian is someone who has accepted 'the Christ' for removal of sin.
If you've done so, then you are a Christian and a part of our family.

>1. I don't believe the bible is 100%
Belief in the Bible is not required for salvation (being a christian).
>2. I don't believe in the rapture.
The rapture is based on the Bible's description of future events.
Belief in the rapture is not required for salvation (being a christian).

>3. I believe in Jesus and GOD
Good choice :)
>4. I believe in ghost
Many people do.
But that is not an issue about salvation.

>5. I believe in recarntion
Again, that is not an issue for salvation.
>6. I don't believe in condeming people
Again, that is not an issue for salvation.
>7. I don't believe anyone goes to hell but the truly wicked
Again, that is not an issue for salvation.
>8. I believe the only sin is hurting others or yourself
Now the Bible teaches that we all have sinned and fallen short of God's standards.
That is why we need salvation.
It really doesn't matter what you believe sin is.
What matters is recognising that somewhere along your life path you have sinned.
You therefore need God's help in removing that from you (we are unable to do it on our own).

>9. I believe animals have souls.
Again, that is not an issue for salvation.
>10. I'm starting to prefer girls over boys(and people think I'm doom to hell for that.)
Again, that is not an issue for salvation.
>11.I'm a harry Potter fan (most christians think it's anti GOD)
but some christians say my beliefs are so unbibical that I'm not a christian.
Again, that is not an issue for salvation.
After we accept the gift of salvation from God, people generally wish to grow more like Him. :)
Many of your beliefs are contrary to His Word and so they may hamper your spiritual growth. They are not a salvation issue. They do not effect whether you are a Christian.

Am I truly not a christian?
Only you can answer that.

Well, after reading some of these and hearing from others. know I'm not a christian. I'm very sorry for even putting the christian icon on my profile. I thought it was just loving and beliving in Jesus and not all these other beliefs. I don't even know what the creed thing is. I didn't grow up in a christian home and never went to church.

Anyways, I choosed not to go back into religion because of the treatment I had from religious people. Only the cruelness I suffer by other christians has turned me from the beliefs. i really suffer pain for thinking animals have souls. People were mad because saying that they told me is going against the bible. If all that is true, It really hard me also to be a christian when I never knew any true happines. My family and people in the real world want nothing to do with me. I been alone, and hated all my life and it really hurts. I don't even want to live anymore.

"If you love me, you will follow my commands".

If you love someone, wouldn't you want to know about him and "test everything" to determine whether what you know is correct or not?

I don't even know what the creed thing is. I didn't grow up in a christian home and never went to church.
Well, by using the Christian icon you are affirming that you believe in the Nicene Creed. I would also recommend reading the Athanasian Creed and the Apostles' Creed. They are useful because they talk about basic Christian beliefs in a straightforward way.

Anyways, I choosed not to go back into religion because of the treatment I had from religious people. Only the cruelness I suffer by other christians has turned me from the beliefs.
But by leaving, you are choosing to react to them. You are giving "cruel" Christians power by letting them make your decisions for you.

i really suffer pain for thinking animals have souls. People were mad because saying that they told me is going against the bible.
I don't know whether animals have souls or not, but I do think it was wrong for people to rag on you for that belief.

If all that is true, It really hard me also to be a christian when I never knew any true happines. My family and people in the real world want nothing to do with me. I been alone, and hated all my life and it really hurts. I don't even want to live anymore.
Marmalade, I don't mean to hurt your feelings, but I think you're making too much out of this. I don't want you to do anything drastic, and sometimes people get carried away when they are arguing. It doesn't mean that they don't care for you.

Thank you, I'm trying to understand christinity. I been clueless because of so many different opinions on GOD.

So why are you listening to OPINIONS about God ...?

There are tens of thousands of creeds all calling themselves christian so what chance you could ever pick the right one by listening to men?

Col 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

One becomes a true follower of Jesus ONLY by being called by God and then receiving the baptism of the spirit into all truth of god, so there is no chance that you would not kNOW whether you know all truth of God yet of not... obviously most christians die without knowing all truth of god since they die disagreeing about what it is and there is only ONE truth of God...

So one must WAIT on God for BELIEF, it is God alone that GIVES faith when He will... you cannot just assume it, acquire it ,from men ...

So perhaps you see what causes so very many to assume that tradition of men is faith in God ?

Wait until you KNOW from God, pray to Him to know... and stop listneing to the diverse babble of religionists ... study the scripture FOR YOURSELF and ASK God to explain it... keep on at Him till He tells you , till he is convinced by your yearning and prayers that you want His truthand will not accept the countless diverse versions peddled by men for a living off religion...

be happy to wait for ALL truth from God ...

Joh 6:45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.

Heb 8:11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.

Ac 2:17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,

Joh 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth:

I'm not overeacting or even fighting. I'm just saying why I choose to become a non-christian. I will give a list.

1. when I was really young I went to two very bad private schools. Everything was about GOD, Judgement and The rapture. The preacher would always yell and say repent he called us evil. And I was told even watching tv that isn't about God is evil. I was made to watch rapture movies which really scared me. In the second private school it was the same thing. Everything was about the rapture, GODs judgement. I was turned off from gone right then and there.

I also been treated bad my so many christians and even called stupid and said I wasn't worthy of GOD. I even had one christian said I didn't belong on CF because of my beliefs. He also had the guts to tell me my family and dog would go to hell. He really upset me and really made me not want to be a christian. I know I shouldn't let others control my belief. But I don't want to worship a GOD who is judgemental, and sends hurricanes our way for punishment. I was told that is why we get all these hurricanes because GOD is angry with all the sin we do.

So I do believe in something, I just don't want to be in organize religion or anything where I'm judged, hated and told I'm not worthy unless I repent for my sins. I'm sorry if my choices upset people. I just am tired of religion for a while.I know this will sound stupid, I still love Jesus, I just don't think I need a religion or a title to love him. In the end only Jesus can judge if my off the wall beliefs are right or wrong. No man is certain if what I believe is wrong or not.

Well, there is more to God than just the fire and brimstone stuff. The reason we do that is SUPPOSED to be out of love. I mean if you have a friend who is going to make a BAD decision (let's say jumping off a cliff) would you not warn her because you don't want your friend to die at the bottom? I apologize for those believers who have taken love out of the picture. There is a place for judgement, and a place for compassion too. None of us are worthy of God but HE DIED IN OUR PLACE ANYWAY. Think about it, He died for those who made themselves His enemies. That is LOVE! I don't know if you're capable of that, but I know I am not.

It's a shame to see you make your choice. I hope and pray that you will come back, with everything working out better.

I don't think what some of those people did to me was out of love. I doubt telling someone their whole family is going to burn in hell, and your dog has no soul is with love. And also saying we deserve these hurricanes is not out of love. It is wishing misery on other people. And I'm not saying I'm pushing Jesus away, I still love him and believe in him. I'm pushing religion away. I don't think you need to be in organize religon to be with Jesus. I might change my mind, I'm just very hurt right now in life, and basically at rock bottom.

Hi Marmaladegirl122, Please feel free to share any struggle or pain on the non-christian forum. I'm sorry your feeling so down but it never hurts to share. If you read the posts over there, you'll see alot of people are struggling in different ways. Its possilble whatevers bothering you, someone else has been there. You might be able to help someone over on that board because you've been there. The forum can be a bit slow with responses but just getting it out of your system never hurts. I think your putting to much on your plate right now, if your feeling down, see how you can get through that, the Lord does not want you to feel overwhelmed or burden. Try to take it one day at a time with him, he's there to help you , he wants you to have life and to the full, he truly knows whats best and wants to live your life with you. You might be confused on many issues, the Lord knows we humans can do that but he is the light, he is there to show us the way, trust him, if something is difficult give it to him. You, me, will never find another person who will loves us more and is truly concern about our wellbeing, God bless.

1Corinthians 5:12-13 For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge? God judges those outside. "Purge the evil person from among you."

It would be unchristian and unloving not to judge.
Thanks for the input...

Boy I wish you lived in my community because we have an awesome group of loving believers. Our church is very very open to bringing in people that don't really have any knowledge on the Lord. There are churches just like mine out there. Why not try going to a few. People will welcome you. But please do remember that christians or non-christians will always let you down. Its human nature. Its our sinful nature unfortunately. God is the only one that will never let you down.

Am I truly not a christian?

Alright, lemme put my two cents in. First of all, noone should state that you're not a Christian because of the stuff here. See, it's your business if you like or believe the stuff you do...tell em to go jump, I say...;) and I have a problem with the more narrow-minded Christians...their ideas I mean...like some of them say that (or may say) that Japanese Anime may be evil...it's not. Just because you see demons on some animated show, does not necessarily make it demonic(i.e. Inuyasha)...like two people told me that what I had on was scaring them and they said I should not watch it. Please. I'll never give up anime. And I believe in reincarnation, too, kinda. It seems real. Animals, yeah I believe they have souls...who says they don't...do some Christians condemn you for saying they have souls? Weird...i thought they would at least agree...and Harry Potter (well it's what you like to read...doesn't really make it evil...he is fighting for good...) Yeah I think the Bible might've been messed with a bit( I heard that some books were taken out on this radio show called Coast to Coast...from these guests on
there)...anyway it makes me mad that some people outcast others because of their beliefs and what they do. That rots and sucks ....

The question is not are you a Christian. The question is do you want to be a Christian ( A true follower of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ). Dont let people tell you what is right or wrong. Let the Lord convict you. If you want to be a true follower of Jesus He will let you know what is right or wrong. I pray that the Lord gives you comfort at this time.:)
