OK, here's the explanation of the second joke:

Yarmulkes are a kind of skullcap that Jews wear. They look very similar to a type of beanie that has a propeller on top. Today they're a novelty item, but I guess back in The Day there were quite popular. Anyway, there's a stereotype that Jews are cheap. So, they wear Yarmulkes because the propeller costs extra.
