Hey guys,

When I got saved, my friend said I couldn't listen to bad music such as rap. So I stopped of course. I didn't listen to anything but like Mercyme, and Newsboys etc... Then later I accidently listened to alt-j and I fell in love with alternative rock again. Though I like alternative rock like Coldplay, U2, and mumford and sons. Though in the past week or 2, I have been feeling really down. I have been getting really annoyed and my mom is really annoying (I'm 15). I have been for some reason feeling like I have been drawn farther away from God. I know that I am still with Him because I can still speak in tongues and prophecy. I don't know if the music has a influnece on my feelings or not but I need your help to figure this out. When I get stressed, I freak out sometimes and get a little mad so this madness needs to end.

I really do not think music is the cause for this. It is more likely hormones and you know, being a teenager. I listen to all types of genres, both secular and Christian, but it does not affect my walk with Christ. As long as your focus is on God music really should not be a problem. I especially listen to rock and non-Christian music when I am mad or annoyed because I can relate to it better. I guess I am trying to say this is pretty normal behavior for a teen... I was like that too when I was your age ^-^

You should not listen to your friend when that person tells how you need to be a Christian. Find your own way and your own path to God. You will find the experience that much more fulfilling. I am Christian and I am not really that much across-the-board Christian music because of the feel of it and it seems generic to me. I hold music in high regard in making me who I am as a person as it has been a major part of my life. I know a lot of people have not agreed with me but I can support their opinions. Back in time, I saw Audio Adrenaline in concert and then a few days later I saw Static X and Staind.

Go with your own flow and find our for yourself what you are looking for in music and how it relates to how you want to steer your Christianity.
