  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Reason requires, for a lack of better expression, scientific proof. Such does not exist for the majority of the Bible or the existence of God. Thus, reason has nothing to do with faith. Faith is a principle unto itself, not dependent on reason.

Hi there!

I totally disagree.... The majority of the Bible is supported by historical or archaeological evidences. The point that is lacking, is that it doesn't suit your personal definition.

Now... the comment on "God"... that's added to eleviate the possibility of discussing the overall subject... for a believe in God is based upon "faith".

Now.. for point... neither historical evidences or archaeological evidences are "scientific"... for they cannot be replicated. Using that same theology... there are no "proofs" for the bom... therefore... it must be accepted only on faith... and rip out those first pages of the bom where the "witness" statements are posted...

That cannot be replicated, therefore, must not be true... according to "science" and your defining words....

"I rest my case".

For the "unorthodox".... What persuaded you to become a member of your denomination?

Hi,
For me it was several things
One was neutrality. This was a big one to me because it showed a Christian mindset. JWs support only God and no other government . They do not go to war or participate in worldly struggles. There are no witnesses shooting at other witnesses supporting this worlds governments.
another was the effort put into trying to do the work Jesus did of sharing the Word of God.
Another was the parallel of my beliefs about Who God and his Son are.
Another was the understanding of the Paradise promise
Another one was putting the Old testament first and reconciling the NT to it. I believe this is the correct way to deal with seemingly contradictions.
And then there is the devotion to God with time and energy aspect.
My personal study conclusions ran parallel to what the WBTS teaches so the obvious course was to be a member.
Thanks for Asking, TB
