always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father;
— Ephesians 5:20

If God has decreed all things that come to pass, it’s easy to understand how we should give thanks in all things. We may not always understand these things, especially the tragic, but we can still be thankful even through tears and mourning. We know that God’s plan will bring Him glory.

My question is for those who don’t think that God decrees all that comes to pass. How do you give thanks to God in all things if He’s not in charge of all things?

Because God is with us as we experience all the things in life.

For example, God is not in control of the sin in the hearts of humans.

This sin has a substantial effect on the creation.

And people can hide sin in their hearts.

God also gave control to Adam. Because of this, attributing responsibility to God when this is not the case can result in a distorted view of the kind of three persons God is. Also, because of this, we need to pray so God can take action through us.

But there's plenty to give thanks for and plenty reason to pray.

It doesn’t say to give thanks because He’s with us. It says to give thanks for all things.

Yep. Those things are there because the farmer didn't pull out the weeds with the crops. The crops will become stronger crops because the weeds were not pulled out.

So yeah, give thanks to God for all things, because of God all things are here, and are as they are.

He may not be hands on with each and every detail since the fall, but His decisions have created the playing board we all interact on.

I’m not sure of your point.

Did He know the outcome of His decisions? And could He have chosen otherwise?

The God who responds to faith hope and love, planted seeds with the same sentiment.

Since nothing could be done about the bad seed without harming the good seed, He patiently waits for the harvest.

This is not adding up, i mean, you should give thanks for the sins of people too? i don't think so, God has nothing to do with that, because God is not tempted or tempt anyone, and there is not any darkness in Him.

The apostles gave thanks for being "worthy of the affliction"

Is God impotent? Do people sin because He’s powerless to stop them?

Why should he stop them, they were created as an independant persons, even if God allowed sin to happen God has nothing to do with sin. 'The devil sins from the beginning' 'God doesn't make anyone sin'

Because He works all things together for the good of those that love Him ... and are called according to His purpose.

If God explicitly decrees ALL things ... WHAT exactly is He working together ???

If God allows sin, do you think it might be because He has a purpose for that sin?

Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.

Allowed is not decreed or ordained God did not make the devil or people sin, they rebelled and sinned themselves.
