  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

All They Need Do is Ask

All They Need Do Is Ask

Darkness pressed in from all sides.

Ever-present and seemingly powerful.

Yet, as I prayed, through the darkness came a hand,

Glowing bright and clear.

I grabbed at it, desperate to get out.

It pulled me, and the darkness broke and reformed again as I passed through.

I looked back,

What I thought was darkness, was just my friends.

I longed to help them, to bring them from that darkened place.

I looked at the one, to whom the hand belonged, and pleaded.

His eyes shone like fire and when he spoke, the earth trembled.

All they need do is ask.

I looked back at my friends and began to shout,

Only to have echoes return as my words fell on deaf ears.

My face wet with tears, I fell to my knees at the feet of my rescuer.

I begged, I pleaded, and I prayed,

But all to no avail.

Because all He ever said was,

All they need do is ask.

Calming myself, I looked at Him.

And I asked Him what I must do to help them.

He looked at me and simply said,

Tell them about me,

And what I’ve done for you,

It is I who will do the rest.
