Isi nodded at Rica and was too lost in her own awed thoughts to say much more. If this were true she wanted to touch everyone's face! She wanted to 'see' through their eyes! Suddenly she gasped and frowned. 'THAT must be why my Mother stressed I must not touch others without their express permission... it would be intrusive into their thoughts...' A lot of things began to fall into place for Isi in the middle of that horrible battlefield, littered with bloody bodies and broken items.

((But throughout this entire thread not one has ever been mentioned, hence my confusion. And even if there were survivors it's entirely possible-- as posted before-- that they fled from the Orcs and are now miles away))

Isi looked extremely solemn as she pondered the new revelations. She grew impatient to be taking some kind of action but she knew the Rohirrim were right to try to make sure no one was left behind by accident.

Isi felt overwhelmed with sorrow. So many dead, so many lives ruined, so much pain... The 'commander' of the orc-creatures was so full of hate for all of Isi's kind. She didn't understand. Never had she felt the magnitude of such hatred before. She wrapped her arms around herself and waited for someone to direct her. She wondered absently if they would leave her behind. That had happened many times, would it happen again? How could she prevent them from leaving her behind without being a pest?

"Here." Howard said and put a canteen of water in her hand. "You're going to need it."

"Shall I take a drink and give it back to you?" Isi asked, not sure what Howard wished her to do. Perhaps she looked like she needed it. As a matter of fact she WAS thirsty, hungry too.

"No, this one is for you to keep.I've been filling up all the canteens we can find from that creak over there. Luckily we have enough for everybody, even a few extra."

"Oh... thank you very much..." Isi dipped her head in respect. "I appreciate your kindness..." she added softly. 'So different from the Rohirrim...the one who...' Isi sighed deeply her heart heavy. 'Yes,very different from that one...' Isi wore a very troubled expression.

"What's wrong? Is something wrong with the water?" Howard asked.

"OH.... oh nothing... thank you." Isi felt for the cap and with somewhat unsure movements she managed to get the cap off and drink.

After another hour or so, the villagers had all gathered up what they could carry and laden their horses with children, elderly, and belongings. It would be a procession on foot, meaning that they weren't likely to reach Edoras until nightfall, if Burn estimated correctly. He rode up to Howard and asked, "As an officer of the Rohirrim, would you like to do the honor of leading us? I'll ride along our flanks and scout ahead periodically, just to ensure our safety."

He hoped Helmdyr was alright. The man had just gone off to do very much the same thing Burn had. Half of the Orc rabble was gone, but Helmdyr had to deal with the other half. Burn could only hope his dear friend was as fortunate in his half of the battle.

Howard nodded, and glanced back at the villagers, just to make sure Isi wasn't being left behind.
