Ok, in Predator 2, the year is 2000 something in the far future, and that's when humanity learns of the "Predators".

In Alien, the year is 2000 something in the FAR FAR future, and Ripley is the sole survivor of the first recorded meeting of an "Alien"

How then is there, in 2004, a human who survived both species and lived to tell about it all?

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but in Predator 1 (set in the past) and Predator 2 (set in the future), the predators have the same mask, yet in the present, they have different masks?

And explain to me the fact that the predator and the human joined forces?

Also the whole piramid/tomb/jail for the Alien queen bit is just sooo bad...

And the Mayan, Egipcian, etc. piramid in Antartica?

Someone (a GOOD director) please make "Aliens 4", forgeting about Aliens resurrection completely, PLEASE!!!

I thought using the pyramid to house the queen in order to have the ultimate hunt was actually a pretty good plot point. The thing that most lived up to my expectations of a bad movie was all the time they wasted on developing the human characters that everyone knew was gonna die. The cheesy human-predator alliance was really cheesy and didn't surprise me. I bet the next AVP movie will revolve around the fact that the elder Predators knew that the hybrid was growing inside the fallen guy and that became the new ultimate hunt. This series has the building blocks laid for a solid cult classic, though.

I agree with that. To bad if that happened the budget would get lower and lower. I hope if they make another one, they trash almost everyone, and make an actually good movie.

I was hoping the movie would be spectacular. Predator is one of my all time favorite aliens. However I went in expecting the movie to be just a little better then the ones that show all day on SciFi on Saturday. I thought it was much better then those so I was pleased and enjoyed the movie.

Semi Spoiler:

I wish they had not weekend the Predators so much. One predator should have easily been able to dominated one alien maybe two or three without use of their more powerful weapons.

Sincerely,
zoink

Well I went to see AVP tonight, even though the ending was spoiled for me, there must be a R or Uncut version to be seen on DVD in the near future. I really thought they might be able to pull off a PG13 rating and still show some of the Alien/Predator gore, but they didn't show anything really. The idea of making this PG13 to get the younger crowd in is a joke, tonight at my showing there was no one under the age of 20, I think I was the youngest there. Both of these series have been out of the public eye for sometime now and younger generations for the most part don't care about either of them. My brother who is 18 has even seen Alien 3/4 or Predator 2, he had no desire to see this movie at all when I asked him.

I don't believe that this was intended to be PG13 at all, Anderson has never even done anything below R. I only hope the DVD will be the directors cut or unrated at that. Besides that issue there are a million other things I could go into but I'm too tired tonight, I'll have to make a follow up posts on this movie.

He completely destroyed the legacies of 2 great film series. God have mercy on his soul.
Buaha! *dingdingding* We have a winner. I was wrong about my earlier assumption... it was pretty bad. I guess my optimism was a litte high being a fan of both epics. In any case, there was one thing I was pleased about with the movie. The visual effects and the fact that you had plenty of good chances to see the alien and predator species really got me. Most of the past movies, it was hard to get a really good look at them, which is what made it scarier anyway, but I liked the fact that you could see them better.

The biggest scene that made me cringe at the point of ruining it, was when the first "face hugger" alien sprang from the egg and the scene went "Matrix" with the slow motion and funny camera angle. That was horrible. Everyone in the theater was laughing.

Oh God yeah... the "Matrixization" of the movie sucked.

The way that the aliens moved in this film were exagerated compared to the first 3 films (I say 3 because I scratched the 4th from my mind). And I think that showing them so much without the usual darkness and shadows stole some of the scariness of those bad-ass bugs.

One part I did like was when the actor that played Bishop in "Aliens" was in front of a computer and tapped the knife between his fingers :) On the other hand, when the black chick said "Your one ugly mother..." was corny.

Yet another thing that irked me was not following the time frame of theoriginal 3 Alien movies. I'm refering to the incubation time of the aliens inside the hosts. It usualy takes a day or 2 until the aliens burst out but in this movie, it only took hours. (Yet, the predator became a host first than some humans yet the human aliens came out first.)

I think that ultimately, the elder Predators sent these three young ones(they didn't have their scars yet) as sort of their passage into manhood... or whatever Predators have. They knew that they would get overwhelmed, but they were hoping that one would survive long enough to have an egg planted so that they could have an even greater ultimate hunt.

Then why did they send them in with the armband bombs? Nah, I think that the impregnation wasn't part of the plan. If you notice in the flashback, when they were geting overwhelmed, they blew everyone up including themselves.

Yes they did, and they failed their test. The Quenn Alien was there for that purpose, to produce eggs to create the game/hunt. They blew themselves up because they knew they couldn't allow the Aliens to move throughout the rest of the planet. They failed, plain and simple.

Well I read the books and was a big fan of the first 2 Pred movies so as I was watching I couldn't help but pick apart what was wrong with the movie technically that would've have made it better. Here it goes-
-The Predators wrist blade and all their metal items in general are impervious to alien blood
-The predators typically use the exoskeleton pieces of dead aliens for armor, negating the crappy metal armor they had, even though it still shouldn't have been eroded by acid.
-queens are a lot smarter and less reckless than represented in the movie, not easily killed
-even for rookies, the predators lacked skill, experienced hunters tear through alien drones like tissue paper.
-Strangely enough, the books suggested that predators rarely encountered humans and considered them very dangerous to hunt, deadly when cornered ;)
-I'm not sure what kind of blood the woman at the end was marked with but it would need to be mixed with predator blood(partial neutralizer) so as to not eat through her head
That's my two cents, correct me if I'm wrong
