OOC: Sorry. I'm used to writing that way.

I stopped. He had made this thing? Oh great. I was done talking. I had said too much.

"Well lets get this thing over with then," I growled, stalking towards the CPU-city. After this, I was going home, moving somewhere else, and not caring anymore. OneTech could do whatever for all I cared.

I turned to Sinderella. "Do you regret coming with me?" I asked her. All of them volunteered to come with me. At least, that's what it seemed like. I'd hate it if they wanted to go back, but there was nothing to be done now.

"Mark," I tried, "please calm down. Freaking out now isn't going to help us get through this." Maybe they were right though. Maybe, just maybe, we wouldn't be allowed to go back. Then, an idea popped into my head. Algerinai may have been a computer, but it did have some emotions, and it could definitely chose for itself what it would do. That's what the onima did for it, granting it free will. If I could convince it to help us after we fixed it, then maybe.....Just maybe. It was in control of almost everything on the outside, which is why we were sent to fix it. If it decided to help us, there wasn't much the likes of Lucas Jimini could do to stop us.

I looked him straight in the eye.

"Yes," I said finally. "I do regret it."

The truth was out. At first I had thought it woud be simple: Kaine would go in a room and fix the machine. But this? No, I didn't expect to get stuck in cyberspace without any hope of getting back out.

"I'm sorry, both of you," I didn't know what else to say. There wasn't much I could do now. If they had known before hand, maybe they would have had made choices they'd be comfortable with. "But we're all stuck in here. Even me. I'm in a similar position. Lucas will do everything he can to keep me after I help here. But in the end, with millions of lives depending on us, if we fix Algerinai, isn't it worth it? To save so many? I'd be glad to live the rest of my life imprisoned if it meant saving so many."

"Yes," I answered, "but so many more would die if Algerinai continues unsaved. Don't you get it? Yes, Lucas Jimini is a horrible person, and he has a lot of control. But millions of people depend on Algerinai. Millions. That's more than Lucas can touch in his entire life. So, even though I hate Lucas more than anything, saving Algerinai is better than telling him to go elsewhere. Do you understand?"

The buildings finally grew over me. I looked up from the path I was walking. My mind had subconsciously made me walk along square after square made by the neon green grid on the ground. I was a little obsessive compulsive like that. But when I looked up, I saw the city as it looked through Algerinai's eyes. My eyes followed the buildings up and up, for miles. As I looked, I heard noises ahead of me. My eyes darted down to ground level. The roads were wild with activity. A single figure, a giant wheel, like a car wheel, rolled in our direction. It stayed up through sheer balance. In the center of the spokes for that wheel was a single eye, the size of a basketball. The eye-wheel rolled in front of us, where it stopped.
"State designation and function," it said in a very staggered voice.

"Error: there is no such program," the eye-wheel wheeled away, then back again. "State designation, and function."
"It wants our names and what we're here to do. Remember, this whole thing is like a hallucination. It's a construct of Algerinai's imagination. It doesn't think it's malfunctioning, so neither will anything else around here." I turned to the eye-wheel. "We are programs 531 through 536. We have a message for the CPU."
"Confirmed." The eye-wheel rolled away, then back, and finally completely turned around and left.
