Aisha was according to the Sunnis a favourite wife of Mohammed. According to the Shias she was by contrast evil and manipulative and some even suggest she may have poisoned Mohammed. Daughter of the first Caliph Abu Bakr, after Mohammed died, she continued to have a political influence over the early Caliphs until the reign of Ali whom she opposed in the Battle of the Camel. Later on apparently she reconciled with Ali. She is also reputed to be responsible for some 2210 hadiths and as such is a major source regarding Mohammeds life.

Aisha - Wikipedia

From a Christian perspective my questions about her are these:

1) She married Mohammed at 6 years old but according to the strongest traditions stayed with her parents until she had her first blood. Then at aged 10 she consummated her marriage with Mohammed and remained his wife for the next 9 years until his death.

How could a 53 year old man (MOhammed) possibly justify sleeping with a 10 year old!!!!!!????

2) Since Shia and Sunni views of her differ so extremely was she a factor in the original split between the 2. Whose account of her life can we trust and why?

3) To what extent has she moulded Islam and the understanding of our ideas about Mohammeds life?

Well we should be fair to the Muslims and admit that Mohammed was a man of his time and the marriage was considered normal at his time. My main problem with this marriage is not the marriage of a man in his 50s to a child as it was considered normal at the time, but my problem is that Muslims consider this man the perfect moral example. If Mohammed’s moral examples should be followed even in modern times then Muslims would be condoning pedophilia.

What is your refrence to measure the "perfect moral example" ?
What is the age of this measure ?
Who recognizes this measure ?

Will you provide examples for political influence in Profet's life, after his death, and after Ali.
Will you use recognized Sunnis refrences i.e. certified narrations (Sahis Hadeeths).

You're asking a question out of enviroment and era context.
You should challenge this act against environment "Arabic Pensula" and era"sixeth century".
2) Since Shia and Sunni views of her differ so extremely was she a factor in the original split between the 2. Whose account of her life can we trust and why?
No, she wasn't but Shias attacked any companion who wasn't clearly beside Ali rady-Allh-Anh.
We Sunnis have a very complicates/sophistacted system to veryfy Hadeets. We use this to certify true/false stories. There were many false sayings falsly connected to Prophit and companions.
We recognize sayings and stories passes the verification process.
For you as christian, It doesn't matter which side you choose :) but I see you always like Shias point of view as it destries companions image especilly Aisha rady-Allah-anha.
3) To what extent has she moulded Islam and the understanding of our ideas about Mohammeds life?
She is the best source of Prophet's behaviour. She was the most loved wife. She told us a lot about his personal life as a man, a husband, and husband-wife behaviour.
These behaviour haven't seen by many or at least havn't narated by others.

Some Muslims schoolers say this is a good reason for Prophet to marry a young woman who should have lived long after Prophet's death to tell us about his life.
Regards

Indeed in the Messenger of Allah (Muhammad) you have a good example to follow for him who hopes in (the Meeting with) Allah and the Last Day and remembers Allah much.

Quran (Surah Al-Ahzab, Verse 21)

Mohammed is called Uswa Hasana and Al Insan Al Kāmil in Islam. Both in the Quran and in the numerous Hadiths and biographies of Mohammed’s life.

You didn't get the question. Reread again.

I need your references (not mine) to define what is good and what is bad about marriage of Aisha.

What is bad about the marriage of Aisha is that it is not a very good moral example for a man in his 50s to marry a child.

Yes it is another example of a context driven Arab cultural message rather an eternal pronoucement for all cultures in all times.

Not sure we even need to reach that far towards perfect moral integrity or standards to condemn a 53 year old sleeping with a 10 year old. Everybody knows that is wrong. This is the dominant leader of a nation, a man with many adult wives sleeping with a child. It is a completely unequal relationship where one party completely dominates the other and where Aisha is not old enough to choose even if she had been given that choice.

Her father was the first Caliph after Mohammed. Towards the end of her life she was probably one of the last living associates of Mohammed still around. Apparently she had a teaching role in her last years so yes it is safe to say she helped mould the religion.

You're asking a question out of enviroment and era context.
You should challenge this act against environment "Arabic Pensula" and era"sixeth century".

The Arab culture that Mohammed merely conformed to is what needs challenging here.

Clearly she was more Sunni in her instincts than Shia. She chose the winning side in terms of numbers and historical impact.

She is the best source of Prophet's behaviour. She was the most loved wife. She told us a lot about his personal life as a man, a husband, and husband-wife behaviour.

Yes that is true about being a long surviving witness. Which makes the question of how reliable her witness was, to what extent she sanitised it to protect the man she loved and to what extent she spoke on her own rather than with the voice of her powerful father and husband for example. Is there a good biography of Aisha?
