I think you have correctly read it and it is a view that is prevalent among many Christians.Yes you do if your position is that it would make it easier for you to forgive if the person is sincere.... isn't that in essence what you have said?
Yes you do if your position is that it would make it easier for you to forgive if the person is sincere
I am sorry you believe that there is anyone the Creator has not forgiven. Maybe you shoud put Farrar down for a while and take a more careful look at the nature of the One you serve. When Judas confessed that he had sinned in betraying innocent blood did God accept that and grant forgiveness?
Yes he did... perhaps Judas did not forgive himself, and that's another issue...It is fairly obvious that sincerity doesn't make it "easier" to forgive. But, if someone says that they are apologizing, but it is quite obvious that they aren't sincere, then who would be foolish enough to accept the "apology"? When Judas confessed that he had sinned in betraying innocent blood did God accept that and grant forgiveness?
If you read the text (Matt. 27:4) nowhere does it say that he asked for forgiveness. It just says that he made a STATEMENT that he had betrayed innocent blood.I am sorry you believe that there is anyone the Creator has not forgiven. Maybe you shoud put Farrar down for a while and take a more careful look at the nature of the One you serve.
so you are saying that you know the motives for the questions being asked? Or that people should be able to start a thread in which there will be no discussion?DJ, I'm sure you've noticed that you started a thread about your youth to avoid the threads about debate....and then your innocent thread was intentionally steered toward debate.
It wasn't good enough that you didn't want to debate, people wanted to make sure that you would or that you'd feel bad for not wanting to.
It's okay not to debate. It's also very okay to start a non-debate thread in the middle of other ones that do/will cause debate.
You don't owe any of us an explanation, and you shouldn't let this derail your thread.

Your post made me laugh! When I was young we got THREE whopping television stations, and even then my parents would declare one night a week as "No tv Night".
I hated it, and thought they were really mean for that, but now I look back on those times with a lot of laughter and sentiment.
We'd play scrabble or yahtzee a lot, while eating homemade vegetable soup and peanut butter and syrup sandwiches.
We were so poor then, but I never once felt that way.
I'm sure if we had computers back then we would've had a "no computer night" and I would've rebelled.
But why do you say that because he did not ask that the Creator refused to forgive him?If you read the text (Matt. 27:4) nowhere does it say that he asked for forgiveness. It just says that he made a STATEMENT that he had betrayed innocent blood.
Certainly, God can forgive anyone, but in this case Judas did not seek forgiveness.
If we want to continue this I would be happy to start a new thread. But why do you say that because he did not ask that the Creator refused to forgive him?
Your post made me laugh!
Great story!! Isn't that how it is alot of times? Our kids do things and we have to relate back to a time when we were equally stupid.I lived in a VERY small town growing up, and I almost got arrested when I was 16 for driving all my friends into town in a tractor scoop.
My dad came and got me and as he was trying to yell at me, I saw him about to crack up out of the corner of my eye.
After we left the presence of the officer, my dad said he and his friends went to Tijuana when THEY were 16, and he really couldn't yell at me.
They all got tattoos, and in their drunken wisdom, they thought it would be totally acceptable to get their best friend's names tattoed on their arms.
Thankfully he saw that really wasn't acceptable and got his own name. It used to say "Sherman" 50 years ago. Now it says "skdjawu". (One big smear really).
Get ready sister!! My two boys are 22 & 19. Wow!!!I don't think my children could even come close to doing some of the stupid things I did as a teenager.
However, I'm about to find out. One of them just turned 13.
T&O, I remember when I was a kid and my dad would do his "lay" activities Sabbath afternoon - usually on the couch.
