  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I look like I'm broke now... but CF just robbed me of 150 blessings when I tried to redo my Custom Title. The feature isn't working, but it took my dough. Doh!

Not that I condone a relationship between a 14 year old and a 24 year old ( I mean . .really, my daughter will be 14 in 1 and 1/2 years! The thought of her dating a 24 year old SCARES me! Although the thought of her dating a 24 year old would scare me even if she were 24!!!!) Anyway, that being said.

I am 9 years younger then my hubby. We married when I was 19 and he was 28. We did not know each other until a year or two before we got married though. BUT, sometimes ( a LOT really when he is remembering OLD TIMES) he will say things like, "Do you know that when I graduated from High School you were like 9 and in 3rd grade! Sure if you think of it that way it is kind of creepy, but now there is really know problem with our age diff.

I think the magic age where things change is 18 or so though.

Me thinketh this threadeth gotteth of topiceth a biteth and there are a lot of "eth"s in the dribble I just wrote.
Ok now what was the topic. Oh, yes now I remember. Ok listen up. I was 49 years old when I married my darling, she was 24. We have been married just over 4 years and have a 2 year old girl and God willing hope to have another later this year.
I have a friend in the west, there was 30 years between them and their marriage was fantastic.
It's not the age difference that creates the problems within a marriage. It is what happens IN the marriage that creates the problems.

I think you're talking about the same 14 year old that you have eyes for right now.

Berry Berry Bad man!

HAHAHAHA!!!

Seriously guy, keep it legal. Pedofiles don't have the best rep in prison and that's where you'll be if you don't start admiring girls your own age.

!0 years later we are still the happiest couple we know.

It's the relationship that matters, not the age (assuming all is legal and has parental approval).
How long did you guys date before marrying? If you don't mind me asking. :)

Okay, the 18 and 28 thing is okay in the sense that no one goes to jail and you dont' need mom and dad's signature. You are going to get cultural backlash with those numbers in most areas of the country, but it passes.
But 14 is NOT okay to be considering for marriage four years later. I hope we can all agree on that (except maybe the OP who seriously worries me).

Yeah but... before someone gets married at 18, they likely have to be dating at 17.

In the above case, that means that a 27 yr old was dating a 17 yr old... or that a 26 yr old was dating a 16 yr old.

See where I'm going with this? :o

Assuming everyone's assumptions are correct, I'd say whoa boy. Pull the reins in and stop before it gets too far. But, i don't know the whole story and I don't think anyone else does either. So I'll just say, think about what you are doing.

What's the acceptable age gap between married partners? Is it fine if my wife will be 10 years younger than me?

If she's a legal adult (18 years old), and you're 28, there's nothing wrong with that.

However, if she's 14 right now and you know her, leave her alone and let her get some life experience. You need to allow her the freedom to finish growing up normally. A child that age is just that...A child. There's a reason why it's such a crime to have intimacy with a child that young.

Fourteen years old is that awkward age where a girl feels grown up, dresses like a grownup, and tries to act grown up...But she doesn't have the life experience, or the sense, to keep herself out of major trouble. She doesn't yet have the capacity to understand that her actions will have long-standing, and possibly/definately painful, life-altering consequences. Her mind keeps changing with the wind, and she's still attracted to Barbie one minute, and contemplating J.Lo as her role model the next. She couldn't tell you why she hates the girl next door, any more than she could tell you why she loves you.

Her body may look mature, but it's NOT. Period. And just as the body needs to finish maturing, so does the mind.

A man's lust and a girl's newly-found sexuality just don't belong together when she's not even mature enough to have finished growing in all of her body hair.

Besides...14 will get you 10-20 years...At hard labor.

I met my wife when she was 18. We didn't even think about hooking up for 2 years and we were just friends. We got married when she was 21 and I was 29. We have a great marriage. No real cultural backlash but I did get some ribbing about "raising her up right"OTOH if she had been younger, especially when we had met I'm fairly sure we wouldn't have gotten married, because there is no way I would have let it get that far.

Okay, so I'm 27.

Let's say that I'm single... Would it be okay if I was checking out a 17 yr old? We're dating, holding hands, kissing. I "propose" to her, and we get married next year when she's 18 and "legal"?

I just can't wrap my mind around that... especially given the 10 year age difference. Now, if I were 19 and she were 17 then that's something different.
