I think it depends on the people. I'm the oldest in my sunday school class, except one girl who is my age. There are people four years younger than us in the group, and it's really hard to look at myself with most of them, because of the age gap. I have a pretty huge crush on one of the 21 year olds, and sometimes I feel old next to her... At the same rate, I can't logically come up with a reason why it's a problem. If you get along well, and both parties have no problem with it, where is the problem?

One of my friends, who is 23 also, just got engaged to her 30 year old boyfriend, if that is any consolation.

I don't think thats at all inappropriate, but you may want to consider whether shes likely to? Is she at college or anything? Are her friends dating guys her age? If ALL her friends are dating 21year olds she might need a little longer to think about it once you suggest it, but i see no reason why she'd turn you down based purely on your age, or why anyone else would have a reasonable problem with it.

to be honest a seven year age difference like that wouldn't be a big deal for me if it was the right guy, but then I tend to be somewhat abnormal, so you may not want to go by what I say :p

It really depends on her. If she's attracted to you and if she's okay with the age difference. I'm assuming that by the fact that you two are friends that she's probably not too scared to be around older guys ;)

Hey:)

I'd like your advice.

There's a girl I know as a friend. I've begun to have feelings for her recently and would think about asking her out, but

The thing is I'm 28 and she is 21.
Is this age difference too big?

I don't see a problem with it so long as the maturity levels are the same.

Thanks for all your replies :)

Have you any ideas how I could tell her my feelings or ask her out?

well i have 2 big ideas.
1. be completely honest with her
2. tell her in person and not around other people...like so others cant hear. in a public place, such as a restraunt or something is fine.

when i say be honest, i mean tell her how you are feeling, why you feel that way and what you would like of those feelings. and make sure she has time to respond :) dont beat around the bush and leave things open ended, so this way neither of you walk away not really knowing whats going on. i know for the a girls point of view, thats really frustrating :p so tell her exactly how you feel and what your intentions are.

and ill still be praying that the Lords will be done and that He gives you a peace no matter what happens :) God Bless

I'd go for it.

Gulp. :o That sounds scary , yeh I'm thinking about it. The age gap still worrys me, don't really know why, it just does.

What sort of things should a guy look out for to try and discover if a girl likes him as boyfriend potential? Trying to spot things is really difficult.
Any ideas?

To answer your question, here's one of my own.

Would it be okay for me to date a 15 year old girl? :D

j/k

Once you reach that threshold of 18 years, the age gap difference doesn't matter so much as it did before. Now, if the girl was 18 and you were 28, I'd imagine it could be a negative thing. Not saying it would be. Usually it's a good idea to go after girls close to your own maturity, provided they're not drastically younger than you. So in answer, I'd say that it's terribly subjective to the individual.

Well, I think of it this way: If it were me, the age gap would be working FOR me instead of against me, because she'd be looking better for a larger percentage of our marraige than if she were my age or if the gap were reversed. She's at least 21 so that means she's probably not a kid anymore. If she's got the insides that I'm after, I'd be sold on it.

Now granted, I do not consider 7 year age gaps a viable option for me. But that's mainly because a 7 year age gap would put her under 18, and I normally would consider an 18 year old too young.

Funny you should mention that because I was going to mention my sister and her husband. They were those ages when they got married. So far so good, they just celebrated 20 years in the past year some time. I think it may have been march.
