I am hoping we can draw attention to the extremely urgent matter of one Said Musa, a 45 year old Afghan Red Cross worker and father of six, who has been sentenced to die this week for converting to Christianity. I do not have an exact date, but it may be February 10th.

After all of the American blood and treasure given to liberate Afghanistan from the Taliban, how can our government tolerate this type of barbaric injustice?

Said Musa needs voices and prayers. Please call the White House and/or your congressional representatives. There's probably not enough time for e-mail.

And, of course, please pray for Said Musa and his family.

Typically there has been little mention of the case in the American media, including Fox. I came across the story on the London Times Online.

Please post any other ideas on how we can help.

Said told a news agency he has been raped and tortured by both prisoners and his guards. He tells of being visited by a judge who told him he would be hung in three days if he did not convert back to Islam.

He told the Sunday Times: “My body is theirs to do what they want with. Only God can decide if my spirit goes to hell.”
He maintains he will remain a believer in Christ and will die for his religion if necessary.

Mr. Musa lost his leg to a land mine and has been helping amputees for fifteen years for the Afghan Red Cross.

John 16:2-3 (New Living Translation)
2. For you will be expelled from the synagogues, and the time is coming when those who kill you will think they are doing a holy service for God. 3. This is because they have never known the Father or me.

Father God, I don't know how to pray for Said. You never promise to save us from persecution. You call the persecuted 'blessed' and You tell him "rejoice". I want to ask you Father to spare Said if it would be your will. If he must die, then I ask that you set an angel at his door and keep men from coming into his cell to defile him. Let his time be spent in seeing the great things of God. Help him to rejoice and to stay in You with all faith and power and peace. In Jesus name. Amen.

While there are many elements of Islam I disagree with, especially in their treatment of women in some sects, their laws of apostacy are something I find among the most repugnant.
To me, nothing brands a believer more insecure in their faith than when they need to kill those who stray from it.
Even sadder in a way is the number of quite moderate Muslims who simply deny such laws even exist. While extremist elements exist in any faith, it's often surprising the way vicious attitudes often run in undercurrents.

Signed.

If there is a God - whatever kind of God - surely he can handle his own business and doesn´t have to rely on the weakness of his mortal followers.
