  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I really could use some advice and guidance. Currently, my husband and I are seperated; and I am filing for divorce. My husband after 3 months committed adultery. I left as soon as I discovered this and he is still committing adultery. He has admitted to cocaine and alcohol abuse while having the "one night affair". We also have a two month old son. This is my husbands second marriage; first one ending due to adultery with me.

He is a Christian, who is very knowledgable about God and even went through Bible College. Until recently, I did not follow Gods way. About 6 months ago God saved me and has been helping me through these hard times.

With that background, my question is this...Am I sinning for leaving my husband? And, can I ever remarry in the future? What choices do I have in this situation?

CJmama, I'm sorry to hear that you are going through a tough time, but on the positive side I am very happy that you have found God and remember His love for you during the times when you are feeling down.

As for the answer to your question, the views are mixed. Some people feel it's ok to remarry and others feel it isn't. I personally feel it is ok to divorce due to the adultery and I think it's ok to remarry. I think you should probably talk to your pastor about it. There may be hope for reconciliation and rehabilitation for your husband but it would be alot of work and I don't know if you are wanting to reconcile.

I also don't want to sound negative, but you mentioned that you had an affair with him when he was married to someone else. He may just like to be with different women and you have to take a serious look at his ability to commit to a monogomous relationship. I pray things work out for you and your family.

I agree with tryingtobeginagain
so many people view divorce differently
I will say
what I believe.
If a spouse commits adultery then the other has grounds for divorce...it's not commanded that you do so but you do have grounds for it..
Remember that no matter what you do you have a forgiving Savior and he loves you and will always be there for you..
