What is your first language? Spanish, German, or other? Doesn't it help to read it in the language you first learned as a young child? Then when you are older you can study Greek and Hebrew.

Thank you for replie. I feel that reading bible that has words change is not it should be read. It seem like how it was read from the start is how people should read it
Don't believe any nonsense about the New Living Translation being not the proper Bible. True, a Bible scholar may not use a paraphrase and therefore would use the New KJV or the New American versions, but as a new believer, you want to get the message in the most straightford way possible and the New Living Bible is the best one. To become familiar with the ministry of Jesus, read the Gospels. To see how the Early Church started, read Acts. Then read 1 John, and 1 Corinthians 13 to see how you should live in order to love God and love others. That will give you the basics. Then you can go back to the start and read Genesis and Joshua. and you will learn how Israel became a nation and then how it failed God and was invaded and broken up. Don't try and read the Prophets because they may confuse you until you gain a deeper understanding of the gospel of Christ and what Jesus did for you on the cross and why He had to die for you. Ruth and Esther are good historical books to read about the background of people in Israel and while Jews were in a foreign land. Judges 1 and 2 Kings and 1 and 2 Chronicles are good histories of how Israel developed as a nation.

Once you have become familiar with the New Living Bible, then you can go deeper into exposition and exegesis with a more scholarly translation. The King James version tends to be less understood, not because of the message, but of the "Shakespeare" language it is written in. In the 17th Century the language was as clear as crystal for ordinary people but that was 400 years ago and language has changed dramatically, along with the meaning of a number of words. To fully understand the KJV you would have to have a knowledge of the 17th Century meaning of the words that have different meanings today. For that reason I recommend the New American, or even the Amplified Bible, which gives the alternative meanings of Greek words in the New Testament. If are going to buy a new Bible, I suggest you get a Study Bible which has explanatory notes along with the text. This is like having a built in commentary within your Bible.

Don't accept the nonsense from those who don't believe in commentaries and who would try to persuade you to just extract your own interpretation from the text. Most good commentaries and study Bibles are written by reliable Bible scholars who have done excellent research and are able to make a lot things clearer to you.

Welcome to CF!

At the start, the Bible was written in Greek and Hebrew. Most of us can't read that, so the next best thing is to read a good translation in modern English, like the New International Version (NIV). Or perhaps the new Living Translation (NLT), which somebody mentioned.

Hello im Taylor and new here and I think this is advice forum? Im 12 and just move and was wondering if there was easy way to under stand bible? Like to make verse more easy to under stand?

Hi Taylor,
Just to let you know, one of the rules of this forum is an age restriction of 16. Terms of Service and Christian Forum Rules | Christian Forums

People here are usually quite helpful and nice. However, just to be safe, I'd suggest not responding to PMs (private messages) and do NOT give out any personal information like your address or phone number. There is no way to screen out who are good Christians here and who are people pretending to be. I'd ignore and not answer anyone who tries to contact you privately unless it is one of the moderators who run the site.

You asked a good question here and got some good answers.

I recommend using: www.biblegateway.com ... since you already have a Bible,
you can learn about it from using biblegateway.com resources.
It's not unlike going to school-- college...sooner or later you'll be coming face
to face with "Old English"...Shakespearian language.
Think of it as getting a head start.

biblegateway.com:
If your parent's approval, sign up for an account and you'll have access to all types of bibles, commentaries, bible dictionaries, bible encyclopedias, study notes etc.

I clipped this for you from the bible gateway site:
