I just wanted to say that I'm truly grateful for all the hard work you put in. I recently went on a trip and had a layover at an airport in Las Vegas. My sister had mentioned that human trafficking was a serious issue there, but I didn't know the extent until I went to use the restroom. In the airport bathrooms, there are notices on the back of all stall doors, urging victims of human trafficking to call a helpline in multiple languages. There was also constant announcements about safety and if we notice any suspicious activity to report it immediately. My sister explained how shockingly widespread this problem is, and honestly, it left me feeling both appalled and taken aback.

The part that hits me the hardest is that even children aren't spared from this horrendous ordeal. It genuinely makes me feel physically sick to think about. I know it's a tough topic to discuss, but I can't help but commend you for your efforts in tackling it.

It seems like you have a great mix of interests and supportive colleagues to help you cope with the challenges of your job. Is there a specific hobby that you find yourself enjoying more than the others?
Fortunately, there are many, many people around the world fighting Human Trafficking. When I began, I was amazed at the number of people around the world in similar roles. It can feel like trying to empty a lake with a teaspoon, but if three are thousands helping, then even my small teaspoon with help make a difference.

My "favorite" hobby with change depending on my mood. Sometimes a long walk into the quiet solitude of the wilderness is best (at least for me). Other times I the physical and mental challenge of martial arts. Then for others maybe some good music and a good book (fiction, history, philosophy, or many other genres). For socializing I do enjoy a good board game, either a traditional one like Hnefetafl (Viking 'Chess'), or a modern one which can be a war game (based on history), or one based on fantasy or sci fi.

Absolutely, I agree! Every ounce of assistance holds significance, particularly when it concerns matters of great importance like that. I'm wondering if you might kindly provide any insights or suggestions that could aid us in supporting your endeavors? Perhaps there are things we could keep a watchful eye out for as we navigate through our daily lives? I understand if it's something you don't want to get into here, but perhaps even some good resources that could help us learn more about how to stay safe and keep others safe?

I can truly relate to that sentiment. Another individual within a thread discussing hobbies shared their inclination for cycling through various interests. They expressed how their preferences shift with the changing seasons. Also, I think it's great that your hobbies seem very healthy. Movement and mind. It makes me want to get back into martial arts, haha.

You were once in an MA class as well, Miss Pleni? We should go a round or two sometime. ^_^

Haha, indeed. My brother, at one point, owned his own martial arts academy. He still practices and attends tournaments.

Spent most of this morning at work reading and electronically signing off on a ton of documents Albemarle requires of me, before becoming officially one of THEIR employees and no longer a contractor, before two Mondays from now when they wish to make it my "hire date" (although I will be doing the exact same job as before, just with a bigger wage top-out and hopefully significantly better benefits). Not sure why this couldn't have happened a long time ago in the five years I have been here, but, whatevs.

Also, here is a picture my former crush from work Erin drew on the whiteboard at my desk several months ago (every section in the lab has one of their own that she drew a unique picture on, as no one could find any other use for the whiteboards since we already have checklists with personal notes that we leave for the people coming in to relieve us, anyway). I have to admit, while I don't think I've had anything to do with the Care Bears since i was five or six years old, it couldn't help but make me smile when I came into work one morning and sat at the desk to notice it for the first time.

My job is fast-paced, but they created such a fun, free environment there I absolutely love where I work. Everyone is so friendly and we are all friends. We buy each other lunch. I often bring in donuts on the Friday we get paid. Sometimes the owner will buy us lunch. We have three computer screens and on one of mine, I have a show I'm trying to watch on, or I listening to the bible when I'm trying to catch up on my reading assignment. We have a Google chatroom where we chat with each other and it's also fun. Sometimes we tease each other or make fun of the idiots we come in contact with every day lol.

When I'm tired of sitting at my computer, I usually go around the office and take out people's trash or I'll go clean the kitchen. I might ask other people what they might need help with. I enjoy being a team player and going above and beyond.

That's awesome! Sounds like a nice environment to be apart of!
