Dear friends,

How do we say "Advent" in Greek and Russian?

Does the word used in these languages for the Advent season translate literally as in English? That is, Advent means to come, arrival; do the Greek and Russian words have the same meaning?

Advent is the period of time leading up to the Nativity.

"rozhdestvensky /razh-DYEST-vyen-skee/ post" (Nativity fast)
or
"filippovsky /fee-LEE-puhv-skee/ post" (the Philip fast)
