  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Today was the 3rd Sunday of Advent. At the Episcopal church service this morning, we celebrated what is often referred to as "Gaudete Sunday " Gaudete is a Latin word for REJOICE

SO, we rejoice this Sunday of Advent at the Coming of Christ. Symbolically, we meditate on the culture, the time and the eager expectation of the Messiah who was expected and anticipated into Judea. On a deeper level, we focus on the coming of the Christ within, the rebirth of Christ in us and Among us which is celebrated this most beautiful time of the year.

Children are eagerly awaiting the coming of Christmas and the material celebrations that it brings. More Aesthetic Christians like myself, have moved away from the material and see it as a purely spiritual experience, with the same wonder and awe that a child sees when looking at the decorated tree, the lights the music. We are deep into the beautiful message of the Advent season, and celebrate it daily through our thoughts and works. And we rejoice constantly, at the coming Word and Message of Love and Peace manifested in the birth of Christ.

Amen
