A long-time Imperial Navy officer, Admiral Black worked his way up to the rank of admiral before the Battle of Endor. When the Galactic Empire fragmented with the death of Emperor Palpatine, Black remained loyal to the legitimate rulers of the Empire, Sate Pestage and later Ysanne Isard.

Biography
Black was opposed to the warlordism that ran rampant throughout the galaxy in the wake of Palpatine's death, and worked to crush the warlords and bring the Empire back together. He personally despised Warlord Zsinj and requested an audience with the New Republic aboard the Mon Remonda in order to propose an alliance to defeat Zsinj.

He loaned the Republic the Stellar Web, an Interdictor cruiser, for use by Han Solo against Zsinj at Selaggis Six. He continued to pursue the warlord afterwards from his flagship, the Agonizer, after he was demoted from fleet commander. After Zsinj's death, he commanded the Imperial forces at the Fourth Battle of Kuat, although he was forced to retreat.

In 13 ABY he was sent to Adumar with Turr Phennir and the 181st Imperial Fighter Group to open negotiations with the Adumari and win them over to the Empire. He was ordered to destroy Adumar's resources should they side with the Republic, but he ignored the order and contacted Wedge Antilles, making him aware of his intentions and to agree to help contact his two children if he ever had to flee from the Empire.
When the Adumari chose to join the Republic, Black held true to his word and disobeyed his orders, taking the Agonizer out of the system.

After the Battle of Adumar, he returned to the planet to act as a defense minister for the perator, helping them replace their honor-based system of warfare with more modern and realistic techniques.

He had two children, Terek and Asori Black.
