Personally, I'd rather live a normal life and be allowed to shake hands and hug and take my chances. If someone is deathly afraid of the virus, really the only sure way is to avoid people totally.
I don't think that cost is worth it, but that has to be each individuals decision.

now I stay away from her if she gets a cold

You've probably already had it and never realized. This is the case for over 40% of people who've been infected. You don't hear this in the mainstream media, though, do you? Fear, danger, and threat are more attention-grabbing than the actual facts:

- Under 60, healthy people have a 99.5% recovery rate from the virus.
- Among the vulnerable, the recovery rate is still in the 90th percentile.
- Natural immunity is far superior to vaccine immunity.
- The present dominant strains of the virus are more infectious but very weak in their effects, no worse, generally, than a common cold.

So, relax. Trust God. And let others live their lives as they wish. In fact, love them - even when it costs you. Like Jesus did for you.

But the vaccines have not, in every instance, actually prevented either event.

If you're in a weakened physical condition and vulnerable to a worse fight with the virus, in a free society, its incumbent on you to protect yourself, not on everybody else to do so. A stranger in a grocery store can't be expected to know your story and accommodate your susceptibilities. It seems reasonable, don't you think, for them to assume that, if you're in a public place like a grocery store, you are willing to run the risk of infection.

Yes. God will "kill" every single person living on this planet right now (if Christ doesn't return first) and has done, generation upon generation, since He populated the world with living creatures. He does so in a great variety of ways - ways we don't hear about any more because every death, however it occurred, is now due to Covid. And, by the way, God has sustained the lives of 100s of millions of folks worldwide who've been infected with virus.

I have had lots of COVID patients throughout this pandemic. We'll have times where it feels like we have no COVID patients and times where we get slammed with them. I wear an N95 and eyewear (in addition to gown and gloves) when dealing with these folks. The rest of the time I'm wearing a regular mask and eyewear in non-isolation patient rooms- some of whom later turn up positive for COVID. The overwhelming majority of COVID patients I've seen are not vaccinated.

I have yet to get COVID. I am fully vaccinated. I take zinc, vitamin C, and vitamin D. I socially distance. I try to be healthy. However, I don't let this stop me from living my life.

You seriously can't go through life worrying whether some rando will give you COVID at this stage. Take precautions and go about your day. Getting bent out of shape regarding other people won't help you. Omicron is not like the initial COVID we saw.

Unfortunately this is the world we live in. He had no business being that close even without a pandemic. People are mean spirited and like to harass others.

A while back a friend had shared that she told a person who was too close to her in line at the register, "Unless you plan on paying for my stuff, you have no reason to be this close."

I don't know how the rest of the conversation went or if the person backed up, but it made her feel good to say that. I'm not brave enough to speak up to strangers.

One trick that I have tried is to keep my cart between me and the person behind me.

I wonder if you could complain to management about the cashier's response. Does the store have a policy on masks and social distancing? I think it was inappropriate that the employee joined in.
