Now being Lutheran and being half German, it's important that I get into the culture....

I like brats. But in a bun (too rich to eat otherwise) and I don't want onions on it. Just a bit of brown mustard.

Don't look at my age.
With a beer. NOT Bud but a Sam Adams. I had a German beer or two (or...) but so far, they've all been too light and watery. I like my beer to taste like beer.
I told you NOT to look at my age!!!

I don't think much of red cabbage or sauerkraut.
Not too into all that sausages either (except the brat in a bun).

Don't like the um-pa music.

German girls tend to be cute. Lutheran girls, in general, are the best looking of any denomination - a real plus Lutherans don't stress enough.

German cars tend to be nice, but pricy and complicated. I like my Toyota.

;)

Happy Birthday Josiah! May your day be happy and blessed!

As far as German beers, think Bavarian dark, that is when you are old enough ;)

Also, the cabbage/kraut is different in Germany than we have here, but I am with you on that.

Umpa music is a traditional music more from Bavaria. The kids these days over there like Techno, Rock and Pop.

Ok, guess I have spent time there as well is my daughter who lived there for one year as an exchange student and is on her way back over there for a university study abroad semester.

Josiah, being in Catholic and Bapticostal country, it seems they don't tend to think that here. Can't remember too much dating going on with the girls in my congregation - can think of about one boyfriend each and according to you, I should be pretty cute - Lutheran and mostly of German heritage ;)

Actually, one of the most popular car makes for German Americans was Studebaker. In fact, that goes for Scandinavians as well (LOL)! That's why the company produced more pickup and commercial trucks than any other auto manufacurer in the '40s and '50s. In fact, I have it on good authority that, during WWII, the German Army's most favourite captured prize was 'Der Schtuden-Baker'. They really liked those 6X6s.;)

Ok, ok, Old Studeclunker'll shut up now (LOL)! :D :D

I'm afriad this may border on the intensly theological and denominationally schismatic...

But if you haven't yet, you must try Yuengling (cheers, DaRev).

If Lutherans ever start doing TV commercials, you know like the Mormons and Methodist, they should do a scan across the college group in several Lutheran congregations - revealing a LOT of really, really cute girls (which should be very easy to find in any Lutheran congretation). Doesn't matter what is said during this commerical, no guys will be listening, just be sure to put the word "LUTHERAN" predominately on the screen during these scans.

Attendence will jump (all males, but that's okay), creating GREAT opportunities for evangelism and church growth.

I don't know what the "anti-church growth" Lutherans would think of this approach, I just know it would work.

:)

New one, I didn't know that.

I had been told the ELCA pastors tend to buy Volvos (but only if they are registered Democrats).

One of my DREAM CARS is a 1964 Avanti. I guess I fit right in. Others are a '63 Corvette and a '65 Jag XKE. Sounds like I'm one cool guy, huh? Of course, what I actually DRIVE is a white, 4 door Toyota Camry sedan with a 4 cyclinder engine and an automatic. And I actually like it.

Ah, the '64 Avanti. The last of the real Studebaker Avantis. This is called 'The Test Drive'. It's the cover to a supply catalog:

I have my favourite too. I call her 'ol Bess:

She's a '56 Commander Parkview. The car sat in a shed for twenty-five years. I just took her on the first trial run today. Am I a car nut? You betcha! I mean, just look at my user name... :D ;)
