just so that you can keep going (I don't mind if people control my character, AS LONG as it's personality is displayed exactly the same. No wild rampages or *deep in thought* sort of things. Just keep it the same until I come back late next week)

Liam smiled at Ryaren. "I'm only twenty-four. But I am quite young compared to most guardians. I may be the last guardian, I do not know."

Arela was cleaning and polishing her knives, and Ryaren was looking thoughtfully at the Kenderila.

Liam continued: "The Kenderila possesses almost a mind of its own. It seems to choose who guards it, and who possesses it. And like a mind, it can also be overthrown and taken by evil. It can "change" its mind. And it knows a great deal that I do not . . . " he looked steadily at her. "Do you understand? There is a connection between me and the Kenderila that allows me to use its power even when I do not possess it."

Ryaren nodded uncertainly, what Liam said seemed a bit vague, but his bit of explaination was enough to satisfy her uneasiness, and she smiled at his revelation of his age. So he isn't one of those that look young but are actually thousands years old.

"I suppose we better get out of here," she said logically, kicking at the dirt with her right foot. She gave the others a questioningly look.

Arela's knives disappeared magically and Hank joined them.

"If my memory serves, there's a town somewhere at the outskirt of this forest," Arela said, hanging her head.

"Leave it to me," Hank grinned.

Morgoth stood at the gates of Angband reviewing his Morlock troops there stood over one hundred scout and Warrior Morlocks. Morgoth had planned that when he first created his new monsters that there would be two sub-species the scouts and the Warrior Morlocks. The scouts resembled goblins in size and speed they had a stronger sense of smell and hearing and were very fast. The warrior cast was taller, stronger and slower. All of Morgoths Morlocks wore strong iron armor over a mail jerkin and on the chest plate of their armor was the insignia of Morgoth a great blood red wolf. The warriors carried large claymore swords, a crossbow, and broad shields while scouts carried scimitars and long bows. The commander of this small company Rarg a very tall Morlock bowed before Morgoth. Rarg hunt down the girl that holds the Kenderilato bring her to me kill the others but bring the girl to me. Yes my lord Rarg saluted then began the long march to find their master’s quarry.

It had been two days now the Morlocks using their scouting breathren had caught the scent of their Master's prey. They are ahead of us one of the scouts hissed and from these other foot prints they are heading for a village. Rarg growled in anger curse them they'll have more people about to protect them and the Kenderilato. Why don't we attack tonight whille they're asleep? one of the Warriors sugessted. Yes slit their throats then take the girl and the horn back to Morgoth. Very good we'll attack tonight and while were at it lets burn the village to ashes as well. The Morlocks roared in agreement at the plan and ran off to the village to await the nite.

The village was not too big in size, but it was moderate enough. After a day of tense events, fleeting like that of a dream, thught Ryaren, the group had found lodging in an inn and went their separate ways, heading off to bed. It seemed so, but hardly anyone was asleep, except for Hank, who had had just about enough of yesterday's long chase. Liam was dosing in his room, but he could even hear danger in his sleep. Arela was thinking about the Kenderila, while Ryaren studied the artifect under the moonlight seeping through the window.

"How often does one come across a legend?" she muttered, resigned. If she was not being hunted by the most dreadful creatures on earth, she could have loved to get her hands on it and admire it from day to night. Right now though, it was nothing but trouble.

"Still want to give it back to Liam? He doesn't look like the type that will listen." Arela said, startling her from her thoughts. Ryaren turned around, a guilty smile on her face. She did not understand much about this guardian stuff, but she felt somehow she had a responsibility to the safe keeping of the artifect, despite the strange twist of events and her reluctance in carrying it. "What else am i supposed to think? He doesn't tell me enough details."

Rarg sat watching the Inn that their prey was staying in. All right lads move out. The Morlocks marched to the inn and slowly opened the door Rarg unseathed his sword. He crept up on the innkeeper and held him by the neck. Tell me where the girl with the horn sleeps and I'll make your passing from this word a painless one. On the second floor third door on the right the innkeeper whimpered. My thanks Rarg snarled he then cruelly chopped the man’s head off. Take him back to camp he'll be our supper on the march back. Rarg then motioned for a few of his men to come with him. They slowly crept up the stairs. They then went to the door where the girl slept. Rarg listened for a moment there were two voices in the room. Rarg shrugged it off get your ropes ready lads Rarg whispered he then quickly opened the door. They rushed in like lightning and clamped their strong, hairy hands over the two girl’s mouths. Tie them both up tight but be gentle Morgoth said that the girl was to be unspoiled. Rarg then turned to the horn that lay on one of the beds. Rarg reached to grab it.

Unfortunately, Rarg touched the exposed part of the Kendarila that was wrapped in a cloth, and a sizzling sound issued coupled almost instantly by a yelp. Rarg snatched his hand back, dropping the artifect back onto the bed as he examined his hand. The fingers were singed, burnt to reveal raw flesh.

The door banged open suddenly, and a form, swift and slippery as a fish collided with the men holding the two girls. Ryaren was certain it was Liam as the figure slammed something once onto each man's head. Ryaren bounced away from her captor once she felt his hold relax, and she found Arela doing the same.

It really was Liam as the moonlight illuminated his hardened face and the white staff in his hand. Liam only paused a moment to make sure the girls were safe. Giving no further glance at the unconscious men on the floor, he poised to throw himself at Rarg, the same moment when Arela flicked her finger. Fire sprung up around Rarg, so close and warm, yet not touching him and the furniture around. Ryaren marvelled at Arela's skill once more, and hoped she could one day do at least this much as she edged around the fire to grab the Kendarila.

Rarg roared in anger and took from his belt a horn he blew two short notes and the rest of his men came running in. you four help me kill him Rarg pointed to Liam. The rest of you grab the girls and the horn by its cloth take them back to Angband. Four-warrior morlock's came charging in with buckets of water they threw the water on the fire and came to their captain’s aid. The others grabbed Arela and Ryaren and cautiously snatched the sacred horn by the cloth that covered it and ran out the door, through the inn and out into the wild where the rest of their company waited for them

Ryaren struggled against the strong grip of her captor. It all seemed like a fleeting dream, Liam taking a step towards her and Rarg leaping at Liam with a vicious grin. The sight receded quickly as she heaved out of the room. Arela could have afflicted more damages but she got careless and now stayed motionless, slumped over the arm of the man like a sack of rice. Ryaren concentrated, her body going still to the relief of her captor who suddenly noticed what was crawling up his back and was choking his throat. Releasing Ryaren, he clutched at his neck frantically, his hands replacing the imagery snake . Ryaren bounded to her feet in an instant.

Don’t try any more funny stuff girl or your friend here will not survive the trip back to Angband. Now lets move lads if the captain survives the battle he'll join us back at Angband. The Morlocks marched off into the night with their two prisoners and special cargo.

Rarg roared as he slashed Liam with his sword the cruel steel nicked the guardian in the arm. That gave Rarg enough time to kick Liam to the floor and knock his staff from his hands. Now you die fool Rarg chuckled as he raised his sword to give the killing blow the four other Morlocks roared in glee. When THUNK! THUNK! Four arrows had penetrated Rarg and his men's armor hitting their hearts or head. The Bowman was Hank who had been awakened by the noise. Liam stood shakily. Where’s Ryaren and Arela? Gone taken captive by these new monsters of Morgoth. We have to go after them. HAHAHA! A horse laughter sounded from Rarg. It'll do you now good by now my men are halfway back to Angband soon the horn will belong to my master and the cosmos will be his. Rarg gave one last laugh then fell silent.

Some where between the Village and Angband
All right lads we'll take a rest for now then head on home at sunrise one of Rarg’s commanders said. Get a fire going and place some guards around the camp and the prisoners. The Morlocks went to work a few of the Scouts became the watchmen while the warriors built a fire and roasted the dead innkeeper. The night was peaceful until 1:00 when a few of the guards were making a patrol of the forest. Arrows from all around them fell upon them killing them. Soon all the watchmen were dead with arrows in their backs. The guards over the prisoners were next. The two warriors were to dull to realize that they had an intruder until it was too late a shadowy figure pulled the two Morlocks back into the forest. The figure then crept up to the prisoners. Now don't make a sound i'm not going to harm you only free you once your bonds are cut follow me quietly shake your heads if you understand.

Ok here’s my new character.

Arela had awaken during meal time, and what she saw through glimpses sickened her. She wished she had stayed unconscious. Ryaren was staring off and Arela followed her gaze to rest on the Kendarila, wrapped in a not so clean white cloth, it lay beside the rowdy commander. Arela looked around, with the prisoners secured, the men did not seem to be looking their way, if she could only get Ryaren to help without letting their captors catch on what they were planning..

Her half formed plan was unnecessary when screams cut through her thought. "Ryaren..." she said and suddenly felt a presence behind her. She tensed up, ready to fire. "...once your bonds are cut follow me quietly." Arela had no idea whether she could trust this person, but the important thing was to get out of here now. Ryaren was on her feet, and instead of following the rescuer, she ran the other way. "Where?" the person hissed.
"The Kendarila!" Arela said, "She can't leave it." Thinking that was enough of an explanation for the rescuer, she tore after Ryaren.

Arela had no idea that her rescuer was absolutely clueless about the Kendarila, for she was already running away from him. It did not take her that long to defeat a couple of mercenery attempting to jump on her, a blast of hot fire did the trick neatly. "Serves you right," Arela said and swept past her burnt oppoents, just in time to see Ryaren ahead of her, waving a column of thick water around. Apparently she was not controlling it very well for she looked a bit wet herself. Who ever heard of a water user ever getting wet? Arela shook her head and hurried forward, followed closely by Talin.

"Did you get it?" she said, staying clear of the writhing column that was holding several men at bay. The men heard the newcomer and shifted their unwavering attention to her. "Yeah, i got it," Ryaren said, staring at the column of water open mouthed. She did not think she could make something this useful, but then she was having difficulty turning it off.

The men chraged at Arela and Talin.

Quick go help your friend I'll hold them off Talin told Arela. Talin threw down his bow and took his battle-ax from his back. The Morlocks charged their swords at the ready. Talin roared as swung his ax at every opponent. The commander an especially strong Morlock charged at Talin. Talin dodged the attack then jabbed the blunt of his ax in the commander's chest and decapitated him. The battle continued.

"Ryaren, could you turn it off?" she said as Talin held the men at bay behind her. A man against how many? she shook her head.

"Sure," Ryaren said uncertainly, and the water column flung up a hundred feet high.

A short deluge fell on top of them, making Arela wince. "Sorry," Ryaren said, looking every bit as guilty as she felt for losing control, at least the water column did not hit anyone by accident.

Talin continued to fight. Morlock after Morlock fell at his feet some without heads. How long can you hold them? Ryaren asked. Depends on how these guys keep fighting Talin replied as he choped down an approaching warrior. Hey you Talin yelled at Arela can you use magic? Yes. Then try some kind of magic that'll enable us to escape.

Arela pushed back one big man with her bow and reached out to grab Ryaren. The instant she had her out of the way, Arela let loose her fire. A wall of fire sprung up around her and Ryaren, barely avoid burning Talin who leaped back and bumped into Ryaren. With the firewall in place, the three of them moved away from the battlefield and into the surrounding forest.

Hurry follow me Talin cried as he ran deep into the forest followed by Arela and Ryaren. Where are we going Ryaren called as she ran. My home deep in the forest. After many hours they reached a mountain wall. Talin walked up to a huge bolder and pushed. The boulder slowly opened to reveal that it was a huge door leading into the mountain.

Arela exchanged a glance with Ryaren. They didn't have much of a choice anyway, so they entered after Talin.
----

Liam almost cursed at the sight of chaos before him. Hank jumped off the horse from behind Liam as the guardian searched the crowd with his eyes. They had delayed enough dealing with Rarg. The two men arrived the moment after Arela, Ryare and Talin left, so obvious they did not find the people they were looking for.

"Just grab someone," Hank said in a gruff voice and raising his bow, he took aim at the person he had identified and let fire. Only choice we have. Liam thought as the arrow lodged in the stomach of the leader of the Morgoths.

The men spun around at the new threat.
